Ok, I’ve been meaning to cover this for a while now…
As I’ve said before, link building will either make or break your website. Whether you like it or not, that’s the truth. And… It’s funny how over 50% of webmasters have never even heard the term link building…
Anyways, link building is vital. As without backlinks, your blog or website will go absolutely nowhere. I actually started my first blog before I knew anything about SEO… And guess what? I think I had a total of 189 visitors in 3 months. Yeah, it sucked…
I was really depressed at the time and damn frustrated. I figured if I put up some content, I would just “attract” visitors. I was dead wrong, so I went on a voyage to discover the secrets of Internet Marketing and SEO. A couple of months later, I figured it out! I tried just about everything and ended up with a link-building strategy that completely rocked my world! (world meaning blog)
I came up with a simple strategy that actually worked! So let me tell you exactly what I did. As I’ve said before, link building can be tough. Especially if you’re trying to do things manually. So, what did I do to get my Alexa ranking below 20,000?
I simply wrote A LOT of quality content, targeted tough keywords, rewrote my articles and submitted them to a whole bunch of article directories/blog networks! Yeah, that’s my secret strategy!…
Now here’s what you do. You write a lot of quality content. During the growing phase, I advise you to update your site with new content at least 3 times a week…
Something to remember, if you spend an hour or two per post, you should be able to produce somewhat outstanding content…
Anyway, I believe in diversity. As the way up to the top of Google is a variety of backlinks. I mostly use article directories and blog networks to gain links…

The core mechanism claim here — that quality plus volume of directory and network submissions moves an Alexa rank — was already dead by the time Penguin rolled out. Article directory links and blog network links are exactly the pattern that update targeted as manipulative link schemes. Diversity of anchor text doesn’t rescue a link if the entire source category got devalued.
Raj’s right on the mechanism, but there’s a median problem too. Most people running that exact routine just end up with a folder of duplicate articles nobody reads.
One correction: Alexa rank isn’t a Google ranking signal at all, it’s a toolbar-panel traffic estimate that Alexa itself discontinued years ago. Getting yours below 20,000 says nothing about where any of these directory-sourced pages actually rank in search. Raj’s broader point about the link scheme being outdated stands regardless.
