Be Patient With Your MLM Success

Friends,

I wanted to send you out a brief message this morning, because of a phenomenon of misunderstanding that permeates the MLM profession, causing unnecessary suffering among many of you. In fact, when I got started in this industry, I did the same thing, so I understand.

You see, even though deep down I knew that the MLM profession wasn’t a ‘get rich quick’ arrangement, I sure expected to get rich quick when I got involved in my first company, Amway, and I was sure frustrated when I didn’t.

I remember seeing my brother, Will, draw out those mesmerizing circles on a whiteboard, and that night I fell to sleep hallucinating – (I didn’t even need to eat any mushrooms…)

…I just kept thinking “If I only get 5, and they get 5, down 5 levels, I’ll have 25,000 people in my group in 5 weeks…”

Much to my surprise, I wasn’t nearly as good at Amway as I thought I’d be initially. Now don’t get me wrong – I showed a killer presentation, I worked all night after I got out of work, and I certainly had a dream…

…but something was missing, and I couldn’t figure out what.

After 3 years of the same struggle, I quit Amway and joined another company, thinking that Amway was the cause of my undue frustration.

The funny thing was the next company I built to about 30 people in a month. I was astonished. I thought ‘I’ve uncovered the truth, and the truth is that although I’m a MLM genius, Amway just stinks’

However, all 30 of those people were simply recruited directly from my old Amway business. It took a long time to form a bond with them in Amway, and all I had to do to sponsor them was give them a call and say that ‘I’ve found the key’…

…After the month was over, my normal struggle resumed and once again, I found myself frustrated, unable to really grow a business like I knew that I should be able to.

So I quit that company, too.

Finally, I got involved in a company where I learned that there is only TWO KEYS to success in the MLM profession – and that is to build influence and consistently work over time.

You see, what I was missing wasn’t talent – it was influence.

What I was missing wasn’t hard work and consistency – it was influence.

I spent so much time wandering around in shopping malls looking for hot prospects, that I didn’t realize that I was ignoring the fundamental, basic laws of growing long-term relationships.

You see – there is no ‘hidden key’ to Network Marketing. This is a long-term, relationship-driven opportunity. You can’t build a business from a group of people that have no idea who you are.

When I discovered that my only issue was true bonds with other human beings, I built an organization in six months that had well over 1,000 active distributors, and I did it part-time – through traditional means of warm market, weekly meetings, and super Saturday trainings.

Then I discovered the internet…

…You see, while technology is cool, and there are some people that teach ‘push button’ recruiting tactics –

– they’re all lying. MLM is a relationship-driven business, where you need to connect with real people, heart to heart.

The internet is a tool, nothing more, but a fabulous tool that allows anyone to expand their sphere of influence almost beyond imagination, in a relatively short period of time…

HOWEVER, we are expanding influence, and it doesn’t happen overnight. If you’ve got a lot of money, you can put some cash into Google Adwords and if you know what you’re doing, you can generate 10, 20, or 30 leads your first day.

If you don’t know what you’re doing, though, you could spend $50 and get 2 leads.

If you don’t have money and this is your first online business, it might take you 3 months of hard work to get to 5-10 leads per day, and you’ll finally start seeing results.

After you get the leads, a certain percentage will join you, and a certain percentage don’t. There’s no changing this.

You might get 7 leads and earn $95 in affiliate commissions and sign someone up in your opportunity.

You also might get 20 leads and earn no money at all.

There is no fix to this but time, communication, and energy. You see, my lead system was designed to allow you to build trust and relationships with LARGE groups of people, so you can accelerate the process of sponsoring reps by 10 fold and to eliminate rejection altogether.

And it WORKS.

However, it doesn’t work without learning to build influence online.

Influence online is much easier to build than local influence, and it’s faster, too. However, because it’s faster don’t expect magic.

The reason I bring this up is because sometimes I get someone who is brand new to MLM, brand new to the internet, and they complain when they get their first 7 leads and no one buys anything.

That’s not how it works. You need to learn how to get A LOT of leads, and build A LOT of relationships.

It took me 2 months of marketing online to get to 10 leads per day, and I started earning about $30-$60 day in affiliate commissions and sponsoring 2 people per week.

It took me another 2 months to get to 20 leads per day, and my affiliate income jumped to $60-$120 and I started sponsoring 4 people per week.

Do you see a pattern here?

It didn’t happen overnight. However, all I had to do was to set up my system, make a plan of action, and be consistent and in 4 months I was out sponsoring almost everyone I knew.

Don’t expect magic – expect to work hard.

When you do – expect there to be a learning curve.

This is the FASTEST way to wealth in the world – however, it’s not a magic bullet. Do me a favor:

No complaining allowed for your first six months of marketing online. Don’t ask me stupid questions like ‘why is it not working?’ when all you’ve done is write 2 articles, send out an email, and refresh your back-office 20 times a day for 2 weeks.

I’ll help you learn it – I’ll even take all of your personal phone calls – but let’s realize what this is, realize it’s a skill, and let’s learn the skill and TAKEOVER your MLM company.

If you’re just one of my blog readers, and you haven’t taken a look at what I’m actually doing online, go to my website and subscribe to my newsletter:

That is exactly why there is such a small percentage at the top with you David. Most people don’t wait for the momentum to build up and explode their business. Slow and steady does when the race.

business is all about being active, you must have daily efforts because the only thing that matters in business is results but to get results efforts must be out forth…even if you are new in this business you still have to be consistent with your prospecting and work daily on it, because a little success leads to great success.
