Top 5 Youtube Video Marketing Secrets

If you’re not already using video marketing in your overall marketing strategy, why the heck not? It’s easy, simple, and so powerful that one video can send you tens of thousands of visitors. I’m not that huge on video marketing, but I like it and here’s why…

Youtube videos rank very well in the search engines without lots of backlinks, they also get shared like crazy on social networks and can drive enormous amounts of viral traffic to your website. When I started with video marketing, I didn’t do all that well…

I simply took my blog posts, created videos around them, and uploaded them to Youtube. I got a couple thousand views, but it was barely profitable. Right now, I produce a lot of videos. Generally, I create videos around my blog posts, put a link to my posts in the description, and do everything else I’m about to outline. You can make almost any video get a lot of views. But to successfully market and drive traffic from Youtube to your other sites, you need a targeted channel full of niche-specific videos. Here are the tips:

1. Make Lots Of Friends

On Youtube, you can add other users as your friends. The idea is simple: the more friends you have, the more subscribers you will obtain. When you request to be a user’s friend, they will most likely check out your channel, watch a few of your videos, and perhaps subscribe. The more friends you have, the better. Also, find other people in your niche and add all of their subscribers as friends; they will be very likely to subscribe to your channel.

2. Page Authority

Quick note: This is hardly a tip, but it’s useful Youtube marketing knowledge. A lot of the people you request as a friend won’t accept you. However, many will check out your Youtube channel, which means a view towards your channel. The more views your channel gets, the more authority and Page Rank it acquires. That means lots of ranking power! The higher Page Rank your channel, the faster and more easily your videos will rank in the search engines.

3. Target A Keyword In Every Video

The majority of my Youtube videos receive 90% of their long-term traffic from the search engines. Videos aren’t like normal word-based content; Google can’t watch them and see how much effort was put into them. You have to tell the search engines what your videos are about. You do this by inserting your chosen keyword in the video title, description, and tags.

4. Comment On Other People’s Videos

I don’t mean scan the internet for relevant videos and spam them with thoughtless comments. I mean find relevant videos, watch them, and post meaningful comments. It’s a similar strategy to blog commenting, which works in the blogosphere. In the video world, when you comment on someone’s video, they are likely to reply, check out your channel, your videos, and maybe subscribe. Just make sure you post meaningful comments; otherwise, your comments will be flagged as spam. Remember, relevance is the key.

5. Comment On Youtube Channels

This is even more important than commenting on Youtube videos. It has more than one benefit. First, you should comment on Youtube channels for the same reason you comment on videos. The channel owner will click on your channel, give you a view, maybe watch some of your videos, and hopefully subscribe. The most important thing about commenting on channels is the link juice!

When you post a comment on a channel, your channel name turns into a do-follow link that points back to your channel. So the more channel commenting you do, the more link juice you will acquire, and therefore, the higher your channel Page Rank will be! The idea is to find high Page Rank channels (PR 2+) in your niche and comment on them slowly over time.

As your channel gains Page Rank, it will gain authority, and your videos will start to rank really well in the search engines. It’s like having this Page Rank 7 (for example) page that’s bursting to give away Page Rank. So whenever you post a new video, which is a new page, the channel shoots its juice at it, pushing it to the top of the rankings.
