Seven Steps To Network Marketing Success (Part 1)

As a full-time Network Marketer, I often get the question, “Dave, how did you do it?” To that, I say years and years of practice. To be very honest, reaching true Network Marketing success takes thousands of hours of hard work, dedication, and smart thinking.

I spent most of my first year as a networker trying to market my company via supermarkets. I would put on my most expensive suit (which was only about $150), and I’d walk around Walmart handing out business cards…

I usually spent half my time thinking of slogans to start conversations. I often led with corny catchphrases like, “Need to earn extra cash or want money?” Back then, I knew little about psychology and copywriting, so I really failed at the direct approach. Little did I know that I was about to become a Network Marketing maverick who could recruit anyone with the push of a button. So, I put together seven steps that just about anyone can use to achieve real Network Marketing success:

1. Make A Plan

Before doing anything, you need a solid plan. Many people dive into Network Marketing without one, which is a big reason why they fail. They join a company, think they only need to recruit a couple of people to get rich, and when it doesn’t happen, they have no clue why.

You need a strategy for building your business, when you’ll work on it, and what budget you’ll allocate. Set realistic goals! Most importantly, plan your exact marketing strategy.

2. Mindset – Remove Limiting Beliefs

Many people in the industry have limiting beliefs. The truth is, it’s not that difficult if you believe in yourself. Why can’t you recruit one person a week? With a good marketing strategy and traffic, one person a week is manageable. That can be enough to make a very decent living.

The main limiting belief is often about money and how difficult it is to create. If you think making $5,000 or $10,000 a month is impossible, it probably will be for you. To be hugely successful, you need to believe you deserve that level of income. Stay positive and work towards your goals one step at a time.

3. Warm Market

After clearing yourself of limiting beliefs, getting into the right mindset, and making a plan, you can begin. When I started, I didn’t understand online marketing, and my sponsor recommended learning article marketing, video marketing, blogging, SEO, and more. It was overwhelming, and it wasn’t what I needed as a beginner.

Instead, start offline with your warm market. Many Networkers hate approaching their warm market, but it’s the fastest way to get results. To recruit someone, you need their trust, which is why random street pitches don’t work. Start with people who already know and trust you—your friends, family, acquaintances, and even people on your email list.

I’m skeptical about some of these claims. How can you really recruit someone every week consistently? Is there any data or evidence that supports these results?

Thank you for sharing these steps, Dave! I’m wondering, what’s the best way to approach people in my warm market without coming off as too salesy?

While I appreciate the content of this post, I feel like some of the strategies mentioned are outdated. I think more emphasis should be placed on online marketing techniques.

This really resonates with me. I had the same issue when I started in Network Marketing, trying to cold approach strangers. Focusing on my warm market made all the difference.
