Timeless Wealth Philosophies
My favorite speaker to listen to is Jim Rohn. The timeless wealth philosophies of Jim Rohn are easy to understand and anyone can implement them. One of my friends turned me on to him about two years ago and I’m forever greatful for that. The first of many tidbits Mr. Rohn has contributed throughout the years is this little gem, “Profits are better than wages. Wages make you a living but profits make you a fortune.” Just to add to that point, you should know that all of the people that make the Forbes 400 list are people who either made their money through a profit system or they inherited their money from someone who made a fortune through a profit system. Basically no one gets rich through the wage system. A “JOB” stands for Just Over Broke. Now there may be a very small amount of people who make massive amounts of money outside of a profit system, but you have to be extremely lucky (lotto) or super talented to duplicate that kind of success.
There’s still hope for the rest of us though, even if you don’t have the money to start your own franchise, or start a company like Google. Instead, you can start a network marketing biz! I mean, think about it… the risk is low and if you keep at it and don’t quit, then you can build a huge network and build wealth at the same time. Jim Rohn said, “I’m working part time on my fortune and I’m working full time on my job, but soon I’ll be working full time on my fortune”. That’s the mindset of a serious networker and entrepreneur.
There are a couple of things you need to know before you start a MLM business. The first thing you should come to grips with is that………… you…………are……………in……………..SALES!! Now, you don’t have to be some greedy sleaze bag, but the fact of the matter is that if you can’t persuade someone to do something, then you will not make money in this business. It took me a while to realize that I was basically a sales rep for the company, but when I did realize it, it was easier to evaluate my actions, then focus my efforts in needed areas. Next you should understand that you’re ALWAYS teaching. If you’re talking to a random person in the mall about your business, then that person you talk to assumes that they have to talk to strangers in a mall to be in network marketing. And that assumption would be correct because if that’s the kind of marketing you were taught, then that’s what you will teach others to do. If you’re calling friends and family, then you will teach that technique to others. Whatever you were taught will transmit to whoever you sign up.
If you are teaching others how to contact their warm market you can show them how to ease the pressure a bit like Jim Rohn did when he started. Jim used to say to his warm market, “It doesn’t matter if you listen, I don’t care if you buy, and I certainly don’t need you to sign up, I just need ten people to show up at the meeting to get three to join. If you’re one of the seven great, if you’re one of the three great, I just need ten to get three”. A quick explanation of the law of averages is an easy way to get someone to go to something without putting pressure on them to commit to it.
Here’s some other helpful little nuggets from Mr. Rohn; “It’s not the money that builds your fortune, it’s the skills that make you a fortune.” “It’s not the money that makes you rich, it’s people that make you rich”. Throughout Jim Rohn’s life, he collected wealth building skills and many leadership skills, then he taught others what he learned. If you’re starting a home based business you should invest time and money in learning good leadership skills. You need to be a good leader before people will follow you and like the quote said, “people make you rich not the money”, remember you need the skills before you can attract the people. Now, you should run your business by this next quote from Cedreic Harris and that is, “your product is people” not your company’s product; “your product is people”. This ties directly into the philosophies that we’ve covered so far and by now you should be coming to the realization that your product doesn’t matter, it’s YOU. Your main concern when you start your own mlm biz is to become an influential leader, if you “work harder on yourself than you do on your job” (another one of Jim’s quotes) then you’ll be far ahead of someone who knows everything about the product and the company. The main ingredient to all of this is to take action. You can study all the money making philosophies you want, but you have to take what you’ve learned and put it into consistent action in order to achieve success.
