Internet Marketing Mindset – Part 1

Internet Marketing can be a little misleading for some of us. We are entranced with the next best thing, product, program or leader. Newsflash… none of them will make you rich and drink from a coconut (overnight). Just like the rules of life, it isn’t spelled out for us, we have to figure it out. This is inspired by 3 different things that happened today.

Someone asked me what my internet marketing strategy is. Here is the back story, they are doing article syndication, blogging and video marketing but aren’t getting the results they desire. The answer is… content and personality are king, and it must be done consistently for at least 90 days – 2 reasons, so people get to know you, learn what you’re about and begin to trust you, and because content is like a leaf falling from a tree. How many leaves does it take to form a pile large enough that when the wind blows it gets scattered all over?

The next thing I learned today was from a teleconference with David Wood and David Sharpe. They are sharing tons of great information every Monday evening! One of the many essential nuggets that peaked my inspiration was an analogy of dancing… here is my interpretation in parallel of what you think is “outside your comfort zone”:

» You think about getting on the dance floor but you’re nervous and don’t think you’re a good dancer (marketer) and then you FINALLY get the courage and 30 seconds (or 90 days) into it, you realize… not everyone knows how to dance (market), they don’t really care how you dance (they’re too busy worrying about themselves), you’re a better dancer than you thought (you do have something to offer), you got a little rhythm in ya (you are entertaining) and you’re all there to HAVE FUN (to compare notes and inspire each other)! It isn’t about you, it isn’t about looking dumb, it is about the experience of getting through an illusion. «

Internet marketing is not difficult – learn, share, be interesting, share, learn, be entertaining, share, learn, share, and be you. That’s what’s missing from all the “ninja” tactics. If you are not getting the results you’re looking for, ask yourself the following questions and be honest when answering.

How often are you simply being yourself when social networking and how often do you engage? It must be at minimum 3 days a week.

Are you asking questions, as if, you’re at a business interview or at a party genuinely getting to know the person?

Do you love what you do or are you doing it for the money? Do you sound inspired or depressed?

How often are you creating content and are you using an article submitter or at least submitting your content to at least 5 high authority sites?

Do you have any “pull” when people do visit your “home base,” where people get to understand what you’re REALLY about? People are truly searching for answers – learn the answers, provide the answers and eventually teach the answers. 90% of people who read your content just want more information and will continue to buy more information until they die or are so certain they can rest with peace in mind. The reason why they will end up joining your business or buying something from you is because they’ve gotten to like you, know you, and trust what you share is genuine!

We are in constant search of the Holy Grail until we realize that it is about fine-tuning what we already have inside us; we will continue to be inquisitive. You owe it to yourself to learn the internet marketing industry and DO NOT TRY TO CUT CORNERS! That will only lead you down a money pit of misery – you’ll wish you spent it on learning from the best of the best. If you have spent a lot of money learning, then you’re simply not applying yourself. If you still have a “BUT,” then it is your belief system.

» The next thing that inspired me today was from Larry Crane in a teleconference. This is a tool EVERYONE should take notes on if you have any fears that you believe hold you back! This works on any fear you have – business, personal, relationship, etc. When you have a fear, what do you normally do? You either totally ignore it, try to avoid it, or believe it – right? Okay, so here is an exercise to follow: Bring up a fear and rate it 1-10. Then speak to the fear and say these words, “I love you, I really love you, and I give you permission to leave.” Repeat until the original number is a zero. Isn’t that cool?? «

Internet marketing success comes from being real, being true to yourself, being consistent, and being present. The people will come to you; you owe it to yourself to learn and apply it! If you’re only after the money, sadly, you won’t make a lot or if you do, you’ll quickly lose it.

Always in service and prosperity,

Carey Rapier

The analogy of dancing to describe stepping out of your comfort zone was spot on. I’ve always been hesitant to put myself out there, but your post has given me the confidence to just go for it and embrace the experience. Thanks for the encouragement!

Consistency in content creation has been something I’ve struggled with, but your post has motivated me to make it a priority. The idea that content is like leaves piling up really resonated with me—I’m going to stick with it and see where it takes me.

It’s so true that Internet Marketing is about more than just tactics; it’s about mindset and being true to yourself. I’ve been focusing too much on quick wins, but your post has reminded me to take a step back and focus on what really matters.
