I wanted to give you an open invite to join me on the beaches of the world. Right now I’m hanging out in the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas, and let me tell you, I am completely blown away by this place. I don’t know if you’ve ever been here or not, but it’s awesome.
I spent the day hanging out with my wife Ash and there’s a couple of things that are just too sweet to put in a blog post, I’ve got to catch them on video tomorrow – like the 60 foot ‘death drop’ slide (can’t remember it’s actual name), but this thing plunges 60 feet straight down and the slide goes through a glass tunnel through a shark pool.
Ha ha! VERY cool.
Anyways, I wanted to extend an open invitation to join me on the beaches of the world, and I also wanted to put up a training/interview that I did for my friend Chris Rocheleau. Let me know your thoughts – and next time, join me!

Sorry if this is a silly question, but is ‘join me on the beaches of the world’ meant literally, or is it just a way of talking?
Bonnie, it’s not literal. Nobody’s flying out because they read a blog post. It’s a photo with an invitation stapled underneath it.
Bonnie, here’s the plain version: he’s on holiday and wants that to look like what doing this is normally like. My mother would ask what a shark pool slide has to do with running a business, and she’d be dead right to ask it.
I think what’s a bit unfair here is judging the whole post by the resort footage. The actual substance is the interview linked underneath with the friend he mentions, and that’s the part worth sitting down for, not the description of a water slide. Every one of these travel posts on this blog gets read the same way, as if the beach is the pitch, when really it’s a placeholder for whatever’s linked below it. I’ll grant the framing invites that reading, ‘join me on the beaches’ does sound like the point is the location. But the location was never really the argument being made, it’s just the easiest thing to photograph.
Ade, fair, but worth separating rare from typical. Most people reading this have a shift tomorrow, not a decision between suites in Nassau. An interview is useful regardless of where it was filmed. Photos from a resort most of the audience isn’t currently visiting don’t function as inspiration for the average reader, they just measure the distance. Both of those can be true at once.
The glass tunnel through the shark pool is the one image from this whole blog I’ll actually remember. But ‘join me on the beaches of the world’ means nothing to someone doing this in the forty-five minutes between bedtime and collapsing. Some of us are trying to finish one task today, not pick a beach for next season.
Cass raises something worth naming plainly. Strip this post down and there are really only three things in it: a description of the resort, a slide, and a link out to an interview with a business friend of his. Nothing about how anyone actually gets from wherever they’re reading this to a suite in the Bahamas. That gap is the whole post, not a footnote to it.
