Why do Struggling Networkers Think Technology is the Answer?

What I’ve come to find out in network marketing is that no matter what strategy you choose, you have to be committed. A lot of struggling networkers take their business online and think that the day they get on the internet, prospects will just leap out of cyberspace at them with credit card in hand. Most of the time people fail to see that in order to make money in anything, you have to put in the man hours. They look at the successful people in the industry and want to achieve that level of success overnight. From my experience, the get rich quick mindset is the wrong approach to marketing online.
Buff In Less Than a Month
The easiest way to explain what I’m talking about is to visualize a gym. In the gym are people at all different levels of fitness. On one end, you have a flabby couch potato who wants to take a pill and get rock hard abs. Then on the other end of the spectrum, you have the buff trainer who can bench press 400 pounds on a bad day. Realistically, what do you think it would take for the couch potato to get to the level of fitness that the trainer is at? Do you think the guy who’s out of shape can go to the gym for two weeks straight, work his tail off, and instantly become as in shape as the trainer? No, just like anything, there is a natural process.
Learn How To Use The Pry-Bar
When it comes to technology and leveraging the internet, one of the problems people face is that they have to learn how to use it. When people decide to use the internet to build their business, they don’t realize that there is a learning curve. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve clicked on a link or tried to check out someone’s profile only to find a dead end. Another thing that is overlooked is setting up the digital framework. In order to get people to see your opportunity, you have to build bridges to your website or to your offer. When you first start out on the internet, your opportunity is like an isolated island in the middle of the ocean. It’s like a small blip in a sea of information that no one can find, so as an online marketer, it’s your job to get your opportunity noticed by as many people as possible.
Promises Promises
Now let’s take a look at information for a second. When someone first starts doing this stuff on the internet, they soon find out that the allure of reaching their goals overnight is all around them. They see all these promises of having a breakthrough with their business if they just get the right information. Truthfully, most of the information products I’ve seen work, and they work very well. The only problem is that some of the people who buy the product don’t work. It never ceases to amaze me that some people will buy expensive courses that could help their business, and they don’t even get past the first hour of training. Then there are people who take the time to go through the whole course and do absolutely nothing with the information they obtained. Getting the correct information and the right training is a must in this industry, but it doesn’t help anyone if it’s not put to use in a consistent manner.
Get In The Game
If I’ve heard it once, I’ve heard it a thousand times. Take massive action and do it consistently. Action trumps everything, even if it’s not the correct action. I think the main problem people face on the internet is that there are too many tiny things that can steal your time. Yes, you want things to work right, but don’t spend all day trying to fix a minor issue. Then there’s the issue of sticking to a core marketing strategy. When it comes to a marketing strategy, you should find something you like and stick with it. When you find something you like, do not change your marketing strategy even if it doesn’t seem like it’s working. The majority of marketing techniques can take anywhere from three months to a year to really get off the ground.
What Do The Gurus Do?
If you’re a newbie, let me share the following with you about what it takes to start an online business. There are a few things that the top earners in this industry did to get where they are today, and there are a few things they didn’t do. The people who are making the big bucks did not just wake up the next day with an online empire. They built it up over time by working hard in a consistent manner. What they didn’t do is jump from one cutting-edge tactic to the next. They took simple steps every day, and they stayed focused on a few core strategies.
Consistent Action
Becoming a success doesn’t have anything to do with technology. Granted, using technology and the internet is a great way to leverage your time and resources, but producing content is what drives the whole system. While the content you produce can have residual results for quite some time, you should remember that there is always new content coming out that will eventually replace the old. Taking action in a consistent manner is the key, so pick a strategy, stick with it, and start bringing value to the marketplace every day.

Yeah Kari, just make it happen! You have to start somewhere.

Eric, we’re on the same wavelength! I just wrote about this today also. The tools we use will change over time, but the strategy (of consistent action) is the important part. Action truly does trump everything else.
I love when Dave says he didn’t even know how to use SEO in the beginning, but it didn’t stop his articles from ranking. We don’t have to know everything and it doesn’t have to be perfect or right. Just get it out there!

I completely agree with everything said here! Consistent action is key, and it’s something that so many people overlook. Thanks for the reminder, Eric. Keep up the great work, this post really hits home for anyone serious about success.

I’m a little skeptical about the whole concept of “consistency trumps everything,” though. Are there any actual case studies or examples that prove this works, especially in the early stages? Would love to see some evidence to back this up.

This is fantastic advice, Eric. I’ve been struggling to maintain consistency in my own marketing efforts. Do you have any recommendations on how to stay focused when life gets in the way? Also, do you think tools like automation software are helpful for this?
Laura Kim
While I appreciate the insights on consistency, I feel like the post doesn’t address the fact that technology can play a significant role in making our efforts more efficient. In today’s fast-paced world, is it realistic to downplay the importance of leveraging tech?

Hey Eric! Great post, as always. We should definitely catch up soon—it’s been too long! I’d love to hear more about how you’ve been staying on top of your game. Let’s grab coffee next week if you’re free!

This post reminds me so much of when I started out. I thought getting online would be the end-all solution to my business problems, but I quickly learned that without consistent effort, nothing happens. It’s refreshing to read someone else’s experience with the same struggles!

Speaking of tools, have you ever tried using platforms like ClickFunnels? They offer a way to build marketing funnels quickly and could be a great addition to the core strategies you’ve mentioned. It might be worth checking out!

Thank you so much for this post, Eric! I’ve been spinning my wheels trying to figure out why my marketing hasn’t taken off. I realize now it’s because I’ve been jumping from one tactic to the next without giving any strategy enough time to work. This was eye-opening!
