Ray Higdon is a true Network Marketing Leader

Just as an early note, before I continue this article – I’m not doing it to ‘SEO’ Ray’s name, (not back-linking this to all hell like I do with my normal stuff), I’m writing it to give credit to Ray Higdon for being a great asset and a true leader to my team in The Numis Network. In fact, the only thing I’m backlinking is Ray Higdon’s blog, which you can visit by clicking here.

******SPECIAL NOTE*********

I’ve discovered that most leaders don’t like having their name SEO’d unless the review is giving them pure praise and have had a few negative experiences with it. Some don’t even like it if you are 100% glowing in your review, so I stopped doing it over a year ago. I encourage you to ONLY write positive reviews if you are doing any SEO on anyone’s personal name, and link back to their website to give value. If they ask you to remove the article, immediately review it – when in doubt, ask permission.

*****BACK TO THE STORY****

First, a little background on this story – most of you know, I’ve been in the Network Marketing industry on and off since July of 2002, failing miserably for most of my time in the industry. My first three and a half years, I wasn’t ready for success because of personal reasons, I was ‘attached to the hip’ to everything I was told to do, and none of it worked.

For some reason, I kept believing it would work, and I did things that very few people would ever do. Sometimes, when you look at failure, you say “oh, that person must not be following instructions”, where the reality is, the person might be doing EXACTLY what they were told to do, but something just isn’t in place the way that it should be – that was me.

I wasn’t in the ‘space’ that I needed to be in to succeed, and because of that, I attracted advice to myself that kept me frustrated when I followed it. The market was a bit different then, I literally used to call my upline 3 times a day to check in with them, and ask them what to do next – and then I would do it, no matter how painful or difficult it was.

Sometimes, that involved changing out of my casual clothes at lunch time, putting a suit on, and ‘showing the plan’ at a coffee shop, with just enough time to get back to work and continue with the rest of the day. Looking back, it’s amazing how difficult it used to be and how much pain I felt every day trying my very hardest, but somehow, I continued on…

…over the next four or five years, I was in 3-4 companies, and that first upline was the best sponsor I ever had. His name was Dennis Osterdock, and no matter how frustrated I may have been, and even though his advice on sponsoring didn’t work for me, he always would return my calls, he genuinely cared about me, and when he didn’t understand something, he went the extra mile, flying down to Phoenix to do presentations in my home when I was making him virtually no money at all, just to help me because he knew I was working.

Over the next few years, I experienced the exact opposite, my leaders were almost entirely self-serving, would never help me unless I was already producing and didn’t need it, and although the general advice I got from a recruiting/building perspective was better, the heart just wasn’t there. I felt like I was the product of someone else’s desire to get more money, not a cherished asset in the team like I always felt with Dennis.

… which is where I want to bring up Ray Higdon. So far, in the last 8 years, Ray Higdon is the only upline leader I’ve ever had that I felt like I could completely trust, even when we’ve disagreed about modalities, I’ve known that he wasn’t going to intentionally do anything to hurt the team.

Let me give you a few examples of things that Ray has done that really set him apart as a man to be admired in the Network Marketing industry.

1. Ray does things he doesn’t even want to do if he thinks it will benefit his team.

2. Ray has flown into cities to do meetings for people’s downlines who aren’t even in Numis anymore.

3. Ray is a long-term thinker.

4. Ray is a person who believes in unity over being right.

5. Ray is fun to travel with.

6. Ray lives and breathes a prosperous life.

Overall, I just wanted to give Ray Higdon some kudos and thanks for being a great friend and someone I can look up to and rely on – because THAT is rare in the world today, and I consider it to be one of my greatest assets.

Thanks Ray,
David Wood

While I find this post interesting, I’m a bit skeptical about some of the claims regarding Ray’s success. Are there any sources or examples that can back up his accomplishments? I’d love to see some concrete evidence!

This was a great read! I’m curious, though—what would you say are the top three strategies that Ray uses to keep his team motivated and engaged? It would be awesome to learn more about his methods.

While I appreciate the story, I think it could have dived deeper into specific actions Ray has taken to build trust with his downline. The examples are inspiring, but a bit more detail on his methods would have been useful.
