This is a "timeless Post" and very appreciated by the writer hereof.
I too have "jumped ship" before and particularly it was as a result of the lack of support. I basically got tired of the meetings and fake it till you mate it BS.
In the back of my head though I knew there was a better way so I never stopped learning and improving my craft, building myself through constant reading.

I eventually got back with another company because I saw that there was "teamwork" at play.

What I know now as a distributor and the person I have evolved into agrees with you whole heartedly, that my success depends on ME and my mindset to "stay the course" and continue to learn and be a support to others who will be coming on board in the future.

Fabulous stuff Dave.

Thanks for the post, David. It actually moved me. 'Have been with the same company for 10 years (on and off). I had some success during the first 4 years until my income started to dwindle. I went back to the corporate world for 4 years but can't get mlm out of my mind, esp with the income that I experienced.

I found myself back in mlm a few months ago but I didn't want to do the traditional approach. 'Am glad to be learning attraction marketing now. I am still with the same company that I started with. I love the company and have been using the products since day one.

I think you nailed it when you said, <b>"The reason that your company isn’t working isn’t because the comp plan is broken, or the tools aren’t good enough, or that it’s not a pre-launch. The reason is because YOU need to learn some skills and figure it out."</b>

I am UNMOVABLE in my company because I haven't used my full potential yet (and we haven't tried attraction marketing yet). I know it is I who needs to adjust, learn and change and not the company.

I thank you for your leadership.

Dave,

It took me a while to get around to reading this post. What's funny is that I was just bombarded with Facebook videos and and pictures of people movin and shakin with their opportunities and they created "drool factor" as Mark Hoverson was teaching earlier this week. Made me want to jump ship, but thanks to this post. You helped me keep my head on straight and remember why I joined my opportunity in the first place.

We all need to remember that there is a market for ANY niche. Make sure you lead or be lead by a GREAT leader.

Another Great Post David. Keep bringin the heat I don't think some people can handle the truth. Lol! Just Mark Yarnell says you need at least 1year company focus and 2 hours a day and you will have more money than u can dream of. I advice everyone to watch the webinar you had with Mark on your Blog. Keep it up my friend looking forward to learning more.

Hey David

100% agree.

People constantly go in search of the easiest way to make money, so they jump fail, jump again fail again, jump some more fail some more, then say "network marketing doesn't work", "mlm scammed me out of all my money...".

They should take the same energy they use to jump around and invest in their growth. Self develop, learn their trade, increase their knowledge base, apply what they have learned, focus on consistent activity instead of silly un-reasonable results. Then in-time real success will come. << That's the journey I am on.

David, thank you for you great leadership and example

David-

I agree with you 100% when you say that "I think people jump around because they don’t make strong commitments." But let's take that a little deeper-WHY don't they make strong commitments? One of the biggest reasons I've seen is this: most people are more connected to the personality of their sponsor than they are the business opportunity they choose, which causes them to make emotional decisions rather than rational ones. Personal branding aside, most MLMers aren't even aware that there are other compensation plans other than the business they've joined. Traditional marketing example-you bring a prospect out to your opportunity meeting, and they tell you that "I'm going to do some research before we follow up." All that means is they will look up the positive and negative Google results on your specific business, or talk to friends and family to see if they've heard anything about the business or not. That prospect has already decided if they want to do business with you or not, it's just a matter of how good or bad the first page Google results are for your biz opp. We could go even deeper into the psychology of this, but I'm interested to hear some other persepctives first.

Great post. It's so true that the internet is filled with people simply spamming about their business. You are so right that it is time for the truth to come out. This industry takes work and people must learn to promote themselves instead of a product or business. Thank you for sharing buddy.

Wow David, you have great content!

I think you are spot-on. I have to admit, early on, before I learnt a lot, I was slightly tempted to join other companies that would be so much easier to recruit people into than mine, and make me SO much money super quickly!!!

I think at first you can't help believing the hype, and it is a natural human instinct to look for the easier option. Luckily I stuck around long enough to come across loads of information telling me it was about ME instead, and to stick with it, and be consistent...so that's what I'm doing :)

Thanks for the post, really enjoyed reading it!

This was a fun post, David.
I was actually gonna send you an email about a great new hot "get in at the top, turn a $9.95 buy-in into 5 figures within a week" opportunity, but I see you're already busy considering some others, so I'll go try to recruit Trump.
