Why, How, What – The Speakers Of Dallas [2 of 5]

By the time you reach the end of this post, you may just realize something that will change the course of your life forever.

If you read the last post, you’ll know that this ‘mini-series’ is covering the speeches from the Empower Network event we just had in Dallas, Texas.

This post is going to share the story of Nicole Cooper, and how she went from a flat broke realtor to multiple 6 figure earner inside of Empower Network.

The Story

“What I’m going to share with you guys is what’s helped me earn over a quarter million dollars with Empower Network.

What I’m going to share with you is how to create that kind of income inside or outside of Empower Network.

Rewind back several years, I was a realtor. I had a lot of success, until one day the real estate market crashed. I went through it all…

Foreclosure, bankruptcy, repossession. I quickly took to the Internet in search of a job. After failing to find anything I eventually ran into Internet Marketing and MLM.

I spent the next year studying everything online marketing. However there was one pivotal moment that changed everything for me.

I was at a convention center of this MLM company I was involved with at the time, and there were at least 10,000 people there. It was then and there that I made a decision to do whatever it takes. I was determined to get on stage and speak in front of people, sharing my success story.

A lot of people in this business struggle with producing. They don’t know how to get people in. It’s the biggest issue:  not making money and not being able to get people to join.

Knowing why you’re in this usually solves the problem. When you have a reason behind what you do. Now there is a great book called Start With Why, a lot of what I’m going to share was inspired by that book.

Inside the book the author talks about the process behind why you’re doing what you’re doing. And it comes down to what you really want.

Ask most people and they’ll tell you they’re in this for the money.

The reality is people don’t really want money, they want what money can give them. Maybe it’s to travel the world, to live somewhere else. Perhaps it’s to quit their job and live at home raising their family.”

I realized my mission a long time ago.

“First I thought I wanted to make 1.2 million dollars/month. But after an experience with Dave Wood’s brother, I realized it wasn’t the money I wanted. It was the opportunity to inspire others and lift other people up.

First you have to look at the why behind the what. This is easier to understand when you think of the outside/inside concept. Most people start from the outside, ‘they want money’.

But the issue with money is that it’s not really a motivator. There are 2 emotions we are moved by, inspiration or desperation.

When you work from the outside, in; you work from desperation. So you’re running around telling people to join your business, you’re too focused on what you want and people aren’t joining.

When you work from the inside, and you work from the goal that you want to inspire and help people; something interesting happens. People start to listen, they listen to your message and they follow you.

When I started to succeed I wasn’t focused on money, I was focusing on my team and cultivating them helping them get what they want.

So understanding your why is the purpose. Get to the root of why you’re doing this. Next is the how. The how is the process. Lastly you have the what, which you always find out after identifying the why and the how (For more on this checkout the book).”

From The Inside Out

“You have to communicate with people from the inside out. If you go up to people and tell them to join so you can pay your rent; they’re going to run away and never want to hear from you again.

People want to know what you can do for them. They don’t care what you want. Always lead with how you can help people. Leaders get what they want by helping other people get what they want.

Now this is how leaders think.

Again – Why are you doing this? To really work fro the inside out, you need to follow a 3 step process:

  1. Identify your why.
  2. Identify your how.
  3. Identify your what.

…and in that order.

When you work just for the money, you lose your focus, your reason for running the business and your sense of purpose for running the business. Losing purpose always results in failure.

Your business needs a why too.”

Here are a couple of action steps you can take right now to grow your business.

“This is where you start thinking about what it actually takes to get what you want.

Identify what it takes to get there.

Realize what it actually takes to get what you want. The effort, the leadership, the consistent daily action. What kind of steps are going to be needed.

Knowing the numbers.

Knowing the numbers is one of the most important overlooked aspects of building an online business. How much money do you want to make, exactly? What will that do for you?

Create a plan around the numbers.

So you want to make $10,000/month so you can sail across the pacific, great. How much do you make per new customer? How much is a new customer worth to you?

Creating a plan around your numbers is simple. You have to work out how much you can spend on traffic, that’s about it. First you create your squeeze page and your follow up system. Now look at how much money each lead is worth after 60 days in your funnel.

If your squeeze page converts at 10% and a lead is worth $2, that means each visitor is worth $0.20 cents to you. Now all you have to do is go out and buy all the available traffic at that price or less.

For me my why was to buy my mother a house. I knew it would cost about 100k to buy the house.

Next you need to create an actual plan.

So if you get into empower and say my goal is to buy my mother a house, I need to earn $11,000 a month to make that happen. Next you need to ask what you have to do to make that money.

Identify core activities to implement. Work out how much traffic you need and how many leads, estimate. Lastly identify the core daily activities to implement, like blogging or video marketing.

Over the last couple of years I’ve thought a lot about what it takes to succeed. I’ve broken it down into 5 core steps:

  • First is to learn
  • Second step is to edit (correct course)
  • Third step is to master
  • Fourth is to start making money
  • Fifth is to train

I actually do all of these steps on paper.

First I write down exactly why I’m building my business, the kind of things I want to create and have.

Second I write down the actual core steps I need to take to achieve those things. I write down the core activities.

I write down what exactly I need to do. I also write down the numbers.

Like how many people I need to talk to to convert those people into buyers, how much traffic I need, and what I need to do to create that kind of traffic.

You work out exactly what you want, why you want it, how you’re going to get it and everything in between. You should know exactly what you want and the precise steps it takes to get it starting today.

You work out how many sales you need per day. You can get into things like how many exposures you need. How many people you need to send to a precise page to generate the exact conversions and results you want.”

It’s those people who start with why that get results FAST.

Remember that.

Fear based motivation always runs out.

Why based motivation lasts forever.
