WARNING: Be Careful With Your List…

I had something happen the other day that just re-enforced this principle for me. Take this one seriously guys, and be sure to share and comment!

Remember guys – let’s build this with a LONG-TERM perspective…  You want your list to love you, AND still read your emails :)

To the top,
David Wood

I love the points you make in this video! I feel like some people disseminate information or promote things with little if any concern for others and unclear or misleading messages solely for their own selfish agendas. I try to be very conscious when sending things out or promoting things. U It is important to me that I don't turn people off because I want to make sure important information doesn't get disregarded. Too many people don't recognize that people will lose interest and respect quickly if all they get is junk and self promotion. It may get interest at first but will get old fast. I used to be trust peoples intentions too easily but have learned that not every has good intentions. It is sad because good people and good information get overlooked sometimes or misjudged or dismissed based on others carelessness.

Hi David, Another great video, how true this is Dilution is a big problem with a lot of list. I need to clean up my email. I opt in to someone's list and then 2 day's later I am getting 10 more emails a day this gets old fast. Great video thanks. Thanks, Michael

This was a great message. I was catching myself today going through e-mails that had nothing to do with what I needed to accomplish today. Lessen learned. Thanks much for the video.

I will start applying this. I am sick of the Guru launches and everyone getting on everyone elses list as well. We need to not confuse people and start helping them... Thanks David...

Hi David- Good insight. I have come to a point where I am getting emails from so many people (what's worse is I don't even remember what I did to get on their list) pushing something that I have begun to unsubscribe - especially for lists that are all about pushing clickbank crap - i.e. no value. You have seen them - Subject title - " Activate your free Account" - and then it's a link to a splash page. That's it. No value. You provide value. Thank You. - B

Great information... I too have been bogged down by all the emails coming in. One very well known marketer sent at least 10 emails today alone! Hoping it was just glitch. Keep up the great work

I totally agree Dave. I has not & will not promote and/or sell a product that I myself have not used. I was thinking of doing associate marketing on the side, but, then I wouldn't be able to concentrate on my core business, which is my main concern. great video as always my friend. that's why you're one of our top leaders. :-)

I forget what big time Internet Marketer came up with it, but I remember in the IM niche a couple years ago when all the big time gurus realized that they were diluting their lists with all the JVs they were conducting throughout the past two years. With JV's, Giveaway events, affiliate programs, etc, things got crazy. They say a big dip in the industry. up until the last eighteen months I realized that most Online Network Marketers didn't have this problem. The reason was because there were just not that many affiliate programs. Online Network Marketing has always been a year or so behind mainstream info-marketing oriented IMers, so it is no surprise that you and others are witnessing how this same trend is starting to effect the Home Business Industry. The Solution? I think it was either Mike Filsaime or Rich Schefren that introduced the idea of "Strategic Alliances". So instead of going out and promoting every cool product that you know will put money in the bank, the big gurus started to create small circles of allies that they would promote. Every body else is considered an outsider who they would not promote for. I foresee that Top Producers and Network Marketers will adopt this kind of approach. I know I will. Cameron Crosse

Thanks for the warm nuggets. I agree, there are not only emails but daily pitches that we need to protect ourselves from. Jim Rohn said it best "be careful with the theif in the mind that steals the promise, steals the dream." Keep up the great content mate.

Right on David I have been doing this for years no wonder I don't make any money. I did learn a couple months ago about how to Gmail to your advantage now I can go through 700 emails in about 10 minutes. Thanks again for your help and superior knowledge. God Bless, Blaine

Thank you for your advice, David! I have fallen victim to abusing my own list by accident. I promoted the same product 3 days in a row and my response rate went to an all time low. I essentially had to rebuild my list from the ground up because no one was opening my emails. I learned better since then, and this video helped me remember that! Thanks, Gabriel Johansson

Hey Dave, Awesome concept, why dilute the potency of your list! and for that matter why waste your valuable time by spending it reading hundreds of sales emails? However I like to keep an email account open just for mailing lists, with the singular purpose of learning about writing good headlines. Thanks mate, Jym

That is so true. I find myself going through emails in the morning and at night. Taking hours reading through the email, when I should be concentrating on generating leads. I think I am going to unsubscribe from a lot of lists. Great Post.

Great message David. I've been on the receiving end. I opt in to A who shares the list with B C D & E. No fun at all. I just hit unsubscribe from everyone!! Welcome reminder to all :0)

Great message, David! Down to earth and to the point. David, Thank you for helping me understand how this happens. I have been clearing myself of a lot of lists. I need to clear more. I am still in "learning mode" and have been trying many different things. I did not understand a lot when I first attempted to be a network marketer. I see you a lot on the internet and being from Alaska I can say you are trustworthy. To Your Success, Barbara

Buddy, Funny we just talked about this a couple days ago. As we talked about it... I was starting to unsubscribe from all of the lists that have no bearing on the two golden rules of network marketing. Selling your primary companies products and sponsoring people to do the same. MY productivity has increased immensely and the "confusion" is gone. I AM CLEAR... lots happening quickly this way. Keep telling it how it is. This Proves you are committed to building a long term residual income business and are willing to do the same with everyone you bring into the fold. Rather than just selling some quick "product launches" and distracting your people from what you originally taught them in the first place.... Once again my friend you are setting the standard higher in this industry and making it a better place. Just as we always talked about we were going to do.

Great message David, This is a major reason why most top offline leaders try to keep their teams away from the internet. I have seen it and wonder if others have not noticed this. This really stagnates your people because confused people don't do nothing. Another problem is edifying people that are not true leaders LOL Great message thanks for addressing this Ewon Whynes

Great Point Dave, I am still clearing out my emails from all the sales "guru's" emails I get daily. Beware of the product launch bonus offerings because this helps to open the door to flood your email box and that of your downline. It caused me to get additional email addresses just to try and stay clear of all that disrupt my focus. How many email addresses do you have? Thanks much Frank

Hi Dave, This is a very timely message as I was just thinking about this very issue a couple of days ago (hmmm, I must be learning something)! Unfortunately, I don't think there is a solution because even if you develop your own products and promote these products exclusively, the umpteen million other marketers out there are sure to get a hold of your list sooner or later. The reality is that "Your List" is not really "Your List"at all.So I guess it just boils down to being sure that your message is more clear, concise and value oriented than the other guys out there. Mark

Sound advice!! Need alot more like this! Comb your hair- ha ha

Mark

This is sound advice, however, in most cased the horse has already bolted. The internet has become a screaming ground for mad marketers, each trying to outscream the others. My solution has always been to use a junk email address initially, and if it proves valuable move it to a decent address. That way I don't have to waste time unsubscribing, all the junk goes straight in the bin. Cheers, Mark

Good points Dave, you can spend all your time reading worthless emails, trying to sell you something. By the time you do all that, the day is over and you've accomplished nothing.

John Chatman

D, You are absolutely right my friend. Just the other day I unsubscribed from a BUNCH of other marketer's lists for the simple fact that they had become more of a DISTRACTION than a benefit to me and my business. I also created a new email address with gmail and am using the proper filters to properly sort through the email so that I am that much more productive. Keep leading the way kimosabe, J

Hi, David! What a great short message. I see that many networkers try to do multi-tasking to promote various things all over the place but lose focus because of that. I sometimes see myself doing it. Thank you for the reminder.
