The Truth About MLM Success
Having success in the MLM industry can take a very long time. Most people never achieve true success because they give up too easily or don’t know the information you’re about to. To be honest it’s not as easy as most people say it is. Can you enroll a dozen reps and wake up to a 6 figure income 90 days later?
Probably not, it’s just not going to happen. Anyway, achieving true MLM success requires a lot of time, hard work and focus. Really, I could break down the success formula in about 4 steps, but I decided to go through everything:
- Create A Plan
- Recruit Warm Market
- Offline Marketing
- Lead Generation
- Systems & Autopilot Prospecting
- Recruiting – Automatic Recruiting
- Tools Systems/Products
1. Create A Plan
Before you dive into an opportunity you need to fully understand how everything works. You also need to be aware of the fact that traffic doesn’t just generate itself, when you run out of people to talk to, you have no business. Leads don’t just appear, you have to generate them through marketing. People won’t just join your downline by checking out your company website. Also, 90% of the time people won’t go out of their way to recruit. Duplication won’t happen by itself and lastly, once you’ve built an organization, it will not maintain itself. So you need a solid plan of exactly what you’re going to do at each stage from the moment you join a company if you haven’t already.
2. Recruit Warm Market
Whether you like it or not, recruiting your warm market is the fastest way to see results in your MLM business. It just is and I know most people wouldn’t dare mention the word MLM to their circle of friends. BUT – it’s the fastest way to recruit and get the ball rolling. If you don’t start with your warm market you’ll end up getting frustrated and quitting.
3. Offline Marketing
As soon as you’ve burnt through your warm market, you’re not going to have anyone to talk to. This is where most people get stuck and end up quitting. Or otherwise they go online and try to learn 101 marketing strategies that take months or years to perfect. Instead you need to learn the basics of offline marketing. 4. Lead Generation
Once you’ve burnt through your warm market, done the offline marketing thing and recruited a little team. It’s time to move onto online lead generation. There are really hundreds of different online marketing strategies you can use to generate leads. You just need an autoresponder, a capture page and time or money. 5. Systems & Autopilot Prospecting
Once you’re generating traffic and leads are rolling in, you need systems. Systems that’ll automatically prospect your leads, follow-up with them and send them to your presentations. At this point you need your own personal video presentations. You should also be doing regular opportunity webinars on a weekly basis. You basically need to setup a system that follows up with leads on autopilot. Read this post on designing your own MLM marketing system.
6. Recruiting & Automatic Recruiting
In the beginning you have to meet people in person. Your warm market and people you meet through offline marketing. It’s the fastest way to connect with people, build trust and enroll people into your downline. Once you’re generating traffic, leads and following up with people on autopilot, you can commence automatic recruiting. BUT first – you need to call up every lead you generate and use this magic “script”:
First: Ask them how they are, what they do and where they live. Connect on a really personal level. Then get them to go watch your company presentation. You need a personalized company presentation to make this really work. Tell them how long the presentation is and that if they don’t have the time now, make time for it later. At the scheduled time, call them up and make sure they press the play button on your presentation.
Then tell them you’ll call them back as soon as the presentation has finished. When you call them back, you just have to ask them what they thought. Then ask them what they liked and eventually say “Well, it sounds like you’re ready to get started”. Most of the time if everything went to plan they will say yeah, I am. If that happens you just have to say “ok, go to myreferrallink.com and start filling out the form”. Then tell them as soon as they get started you’ll help them setup everything so they can start making money right away.
Lastly say “I’m just going to grab some lunch so I’ll be back in 15 minutes, I’ll leave the phone call live while you’re signing up”. That’s pretty much recruiting in a nutshell; the key is to have a really good presentation. So call your leads and follow the process I just outlined. Once your business is booming you can sort of put your recruiting on autopilot. It’s quite simple. Have a signup now form appear towards the end of your video presentations. So all you have to do is drive traffic to the presentations and let them take care of the rest.
Duplication is the real problem in this industry. People can recruit; in fact most networkers recruit on average 2-4 people throughout their entire Network Marketing lifespan. Once you master all of the above 6 steps then you’ll be able to recruit as many people as you like. BUT – recruiting isn’t the hard part. Recruiting is easy as if you have the desire and knowledge, you can enroll as many people as you like.
Saying that, most people won’t feel the need to go out of their comfort zone to recruit. If you want to see duplication, you need to give your reps all the tools they need. Most importantly, training. I used to struggle in my Network Marketing business because I didn’t have anyone who knew what they were doing. I didn’t have any training that taught me how to recruit, how to prospect or how to setup automated traffic/lead generation machines.
8. Tools Systems/Products
Once you’ve made it through all of the above 7 stages, you should be making a ton of money. You should be recruiting on a daily basis, making a lot of cash flow and seeing duplication throughout your downline. Once you’re there, everything else is really simple. You have the social proof to sell products and the ability to recruit at will. While that’s all great, there is huge money to be made with tools. You know the top earners in Amway and other old school companies make most of their money selling tools?
Yep, tools systems like capture pages, video presentations and websites. Package them up and sell a tools system to your entire downline. Do the math’s…. If you sell a tools system for $20/month to your team of 5000 distributors. That’s $100,000/month in spare cash. Think how many systems and products you can potentially launch each year.
Training course after training course, your downline will be happy to hand you money as long as you help them build their business. The top networkers know this and all sell their own tools, products and trainings. There are no limits when you get to this point. Once you have the traffic, leads, presentations and webinars in place to automatically recruit… money is no longer a problem. Once that problem is eliminated, you just have to focus on helping others which is great. As you have to remember the money isn’t in recruiting,it’s in duplication and selling your own stuff.
The real money is in leveraging your distributors and getting them to work for you. If you train them correctly, it’s like duplicating your recruiting efforts. If you’re able to recruit 1 rep per day, you should easily be able to teach your distributors to recruit 1 rep per week. So eventually you should be able to put systems in place to coach your distributors to recruit 1 rep per week. From there you can sell tools systems, products, training and offline coaching. There are zero limits!
