The MLM Newbie Syndrome
So, you have just joined a Network Marketing company. Now what? I’m pretty sure, like in most companies your upline/sponsor hyped you up, told you to make a list of 200 people and start giving presentations so that you get your first 4 people into your team in the first week. Now you’re all excited about it and ready to rock it out! Am I right?
Now, a few days has passed, you’ve ran through your list of people, nothing happened. You may have done a couple home meetings, still nothing. Now what? Not only do your friends/family think you’re crazy but you’re starting to doubt if this may work for you. Seeming as though this happened to me, I decided to write this to help you if you’re going through the same thing right now. Here’s what I’m going to do for you. I will outline 3 Steps that can definitely help you in your MLM business (if you’re serious about this).
Develop A Plan
When joining a network marketing company, you have to know “Why.” Could it be because you need to take care of your family, financial independence, more time and freedom etc.. Once you figure that out, the next step for you to take is to map out a plan. Take a look at your life right now. Where are you at this point? Where do you want to go? How much money do you want to make? What do you want your future to be like once you have achieved success? Answer all of these questions starting with your future in mind. So basically go backwards starting with the end goal picture of your future. Now determine..”how can I get there?” Next, you want to determine how you want to build your business rather its online, offline or a combination of both. So to solve this question, you have to put training and tools in place. Does your company offer any type of marketing system that does the selling and telling, or do you have to get creative on your own? So what you need to do is go back to your upline and see what type of training is available for you besides making lists and doing home meetings. Don’t get me wrong, this works for a lot of people but you may not be one of them. We are now in a time and age where many things can be done through the wonderful world of the Internet. Some companies have systems in place that does the selling and telling for you so that you don’t have to try and reinvent the wheel. So, if you’re upline does not have any specific trainings in place or the company doesn’t offer anything that sells and tells for you then you need to get out fast..lol just kidding. But you want to find someone else in the company that can help you as far as giving you the necessary tools and training that you need in order to be successful before you completely give up.
Now if you were anything like I was when I first started, the ability to overcome objections scared the crap out of me. Why? Because I was too worried about “fear of loss.” The type of questions I always ran across when doing presentations was: “Is this a pyramid scheme” (we all have heard this one at a point of time), “How much are you making?” (oh boy! what do I say now), “How many people do you have under you?” (In your head you’re thinking, man I am trying to get you in as my first person)! Forget all of that nonsense! Most of the people that asks these types of questions is either because of the way that it was presented to them or is simply because they have never achieved any type of success in their life before, so they are quick to prejudge or criticize from what they may have heard from other people without just getting the facts. I personally don’t deal with people like that anyway because they will not last long. You should not have to beg or convince someone to join your business. They either get it or they don’t. You have to take the emotion out of things. Who cares if someone says no. There’s a million others out there that needs your help. And if you have a particular system in place that does all the telling and selling for you anyway, I guarantee that you will not hear those objections anyway. If for some odd reason you do, just be honest. Don’t fake anything. What’s the worst that can happen…No. Who cares right?
Finding A System That Works For You
Do you want to walk around shopping malls, restaurants, or other random places trying to recruit people into your business? Maybe you do. Or, do you want to have a system in place where you can leverage your time and energy to work on other aspects of your business? Keep in mind, whatever you do, make sure it is something that your team can duplicate. Otherwise, you’re just wasting your time. Once you start to implement all of these things properly, you will be well on your way to success.
