The 4 Free Accounts Every Online Business Needs
Starting an online business can be very confusing. Everywhere you look someone is trying to sell you the “quick” way to get rich online. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it takes consistent effort to make money online. While you can create massive leverage by using the web, the truth of the matter is that it takes time and constant action to build an online business. There may be some people who disagree with me, but from my experience, you have to treat your online business like you would treat a fitness program. Building muscle takes time and so does building an online presence. One good thing about starting an online business is that you don’t need to buy anything in order to get started.
Believe it or not a lot of the main accounts you need to start an online business are actually free. Don’t get me wrong, if you’re serious about making money with the internet you will eventually need to spend money, but right now let’s talk about free accounts you’ll need. Before you sign up for any accounts, free or not, you should have your own personal brand. If you want some tips on how to come up with a personalized brand you can check out my last article “The First Step in Building an Online Empire”. Starting out with your own brand will help tie your accounts together with a common theme and make you and your business more recognizable on the internet.
The first account you will need is a Google account. Signing up for a Google Gmail account is one of the most important accounts you’ll open up. Google is tied into a ton of things on the internet and they offer a bunch of free tools you can use. The free tools that Google offers are great and they’ll help you advertise and grow your business. Getting signed up with Google will make signing up in other places a lot easier. Take YouTube, for instance. Google owns YouTube, so when you open an account on YouTube you can do it almost automatically through your Gmail account.
The next account that you should sign up for is Facebook. Facebook is another major account and you can sign into other accounts using Facebook too. There are a lot of different marketing strategies you can use on the internet but if you are planning on using social media to market your business, Facebook is a must. Facebook is great because it is a very popular and a very versatile platform to market from (just don’t spam people). There are a lot of marketing options available when you open up a Facebook account. You can start a group or a fan page, or you can start a pay per-click campaign just to name a few.
YouTube is the next account every online rookie should have. YouTube is a definite must, even if you don’t plan on putting up a bunch of videos. YouTube is great because when you upload a video onto it, that video opens up another door for people to find you and your business. All of the serious online marketers have YouTube accounts because anyone can watch a video on YouTube (even if they don’t have an account) and YouTube videos show up in the Google search results. There are a lot of other reasons to have a YouTube account but it would take way too much time to go through them all, so just trust me and sign up for a free YouTube account.
Twitter is the next account every newbie should have. Twitter is a good account to have because there are a lot of people who use Twitter and there are a lot of different ways to tie Twitter to other accounts. Twitter is a social website that people can write posts about 150 characters long that are called tweets. Twitter can be used in a lot of different ways. Personally, I have my Twitter account tied to my blog so every time I post a new article it sends out a tweet with a link to my blog post. Twitter is a great place to connect with other people. I’ve found that the Twitter community is very open; if you are being followed by someone you should follow them back. Usually, if you follow someone on Twitter they will return the favor and follow you in kind. Twitter is a pretty simple site and everything on it is refined to just a few words (even the profiles). I think having a Twitter account is a must because it’s easy to find people to connect with and it’s one of the easiest social platforms to use.
Signing up for the accounts I’ve mentioned is a must for anyone who wants to start a business on the internet, but signing up for the free accounts is only the beginning. Getting the correct training on how to properly use your accounts and how to integrate them is where the journey really begins. Training is an important part of online marketing so make sure you’re learning good techniques from a reputable source and take action.
