I loved this because when I was a teenager I loved doing stuff like that too, in rock climbing, whitewater canoeing, ropes courses etc. Then was beaten down by years of working at a JOB. Getting yourself to relive the feeling of what you can do when you let go of fear can effectively cancel the fear. Very powerful, thanks!

ps- “maid hasn’t been over in 2 days…” lol. My maid hasn’t been over in 2 months!

Dave,

Granite Tors, hhmmmm…. I remember the days. That and climbing up the face of angel rocks. I remember once when there was a rock that was considered “unclimbable” because of it being so vertical that it was “impossible” to climb without ropes and harnesses. But their was one little spot that you could go up if you braved the “drop”. Which meant that I had to pass through a spot that was a 200 foot drop straight down into jagged rocks. In other words if I slipped at all or lost my grip, I would fall to certain death.

I decided to brave it and my heart pumping out of my chest I put my focus on “just the next” step and kept going. The only time I ever had any adrenaline pumping like that was when I skydived for the first time.

I turned back from that rock 6 times before in the years before that one. That time I overcame the fear and trusted the process and made my way to the top. The feeling once I got to the top is still to this day indescribable.

Whenever I reach a wall or a plateau and I don’t know how I am going to make it up the mountain… I remember that moment and I continue on…. for I know that If I trust the process and maintain focus… I will reach my providence.

writing this blog shirtless as well…..

Chris

That video was INTENSE…. really made me do a lot of thinking and reminded me of the fact that I need to take more action! I will say though, you are f…ing nuts for jumping off that tree like that… I watched the video like where’d he go? I don’t see any marsh? Then you swung back up on into the picture like Spider Man! Bad Ass!!!

David, I couldn’t agree with you more. So true, Fear – False Expectations Appearing Real . I think we’ve all played that little internal movie in our heads at one time or another before the actual event actually takes place and sometimes our precieved out come can hold us back from taking action. I say, why not go out on a limb? That’s where the fruit is.

I guess the first thing I think of after watching your video is the whole idea of the comfort zone. The comfort zone is your personal prison.

What’s worse, a dirty stinky danky prison that you hate and would do anything to escape? Or a prison that has a country club type of atmosphere, one that is actually nice in many ways. It is just comfortable enough to accept, but ultimately it is stagnating and soul sucking.

Which one is worse? This is why the comfort zone is so dangerous. It takes courage – and it takes a leap of faith to step beyond it.

Dave!

Excellent post!! I could totally relate as I experienced a moment, or a few this last week where I didn’t think I was going to make it. In my quest to regain my health and doing my 21 day fast there was a moment where the lights was going in and out and not knowing if I was going to pass out or if my heart was going to stop or if what was going to happen to me I said ” I sure hope I’m going to make it” and as that the blazing heat in my body subsided, the pounding in my heat slowed and the flashing light and sound seem to dim I started to regain my strenght and breathe normally. For in everything we do, and every spiritual teacher will tell you “You Must Have Faith”!!

Looking forward to a full recovery and applying the same Faith that will restore my health to build my business.

Thanks for the encouragement
Peace Be With You!
