It looks like you've been to my blog a bunch of times - THANKS! I just created a video series about how I generate leads, I call it My 'Instant Leads Formula' (click here).
If you've already subscribed - enjoy the post!
Hello everyone!
Wow. It’s been a crazy last couple of days. Last week I ended up making more than $27,000 and I sponsored 14 people (personally) in my online business…
A lot of online marketing leaders are raising their eyebrows right now, because it’s pretty rare that someone comes in to the online marketing scene and creates cash flow so quickly using nothing but content creation as their form of marketing.
So people are wondering how I started marketing online 2 months ago, and produce more income than most people who have been marketing online for 2 years without paying anything for advertising…
…The answer is simple, it’s by creating mass amounts of “relevant content” and promoting that content in a way where the people who are searching for it find it wherever they look.
You see, when you market by attracting people through relevant content, you’re simply targeting people who are looking for what you’re selling, and giving them exactly what they’re looking for. Over the last 2 weeks, I’ve seen people start applying my article marketing secrets, and there are some basic mistakes that I see people making again and again. Most of the mistakes revolve around making their content ‘relevant’ to what people are searching for, and FOCUSING their content around one subject.
What do I mean? I’ll give you a couple of random examples I’ve ran into. Some of these even rank well, they’re just not relevant to the search and as a result won’t produce very good results.
This is a great example of what’s not ‘relevant content’. The following video shows up under a search for “ilearningglobal review” (without the quotation marks). Go ahead and watch it and you’ll see what I mean:
Now, I like this guy… and don’t get me wrong, he’s GREAT at keyword research. (I see his videos everywhere). But if I find a video that’s titled “iLearningGlobal Review”, it would make sense that I would want to see something related to what I was searching, don’t you think? I mean, wouldn’t it make sense to at least MENTION the name of the company in the video? Isn’t that what relevant content is all about?
Ok, I don’t want to pick on Joe, because his content is everywhere and I’m sure he gets at least SOME leads from it. The funny thing is, though, this same video shows up in several hundred non related searches. In fact, go to his Metacafe channel:
Joe LoBalsamo’s Metacafe Channel
(It will open up in a new window). Look at the videos. He has the same exact video, exactly one minute and forty five seconds long re-posted under more than five hundred different search terms. Tell me my friends, is that relevant content? Now, to be fair, Joe Lobasamo does provide useful information on several of his other websites… Like look at this other video:
This video is tagged as “MLM Video Traffic Secrets” and it is ON TOPIC. THAT’S relevant, useful information (heck, I enjoyed it and learned a couple of things). Are the facts and figures accurate from that video? I have no idea if they are or not, all I know is that he would get 100X more traffic and leads from videos like that, relevant and on topic to his searches rather than blasting that dumb first video again and again under different non related searches.
You know how internet marketers are always talking about leading with value? That’s what relevant content is all about… It’s just a nerdy way of saying that you want to ACTUALLY solve problems while you’re marketing that are RELATED to what people are looking for, just like Joe’s second video there. Jam packed FULL of useful information that makes you want to start marketing with videos.
The cool thing about doing that is, if you provide relevant content that is high in value, you don’t need to sell anything. People will just buy from you because you have what they are already looking for, with no coersion.
That’s how I made $27,000 in one week after 2 months of marketing online. I figured out how to get a massive amount of leads for free through creating and promoting relevant content and I taught a bunch of people how to do it, who already wanted that information.
You see, the reason why Google hates marketers and does it’s best to make life difficult for them is because there are thousands of people who will do everything in their power to rank in the search engines EXCEPT provide actual value that is RELEVANT to the search.
For example, early on in the days of Google, sites would rank well just for having tags (little descriptive words in the html code) that said what people were looking for.
Well, some marketers got together and they said ‘cool…. look how stupid Google is’ and they would stuff tags for hundreds of searches into a site of some kind and you would get on your computer, look for ‘cute puppies’ and when you clicked on the page some naked chic would pop up on the screen wanting to share her web cam. Remember those days?
What happened to all of those sites, anyways? They got caught and shut down, and the algorithms were changed. In other words, Google spanked them. Every once in a while, someone comes out with a new way to trick the search engines and get their non related marketing messages seen by thousands of annoyed searchers, and then Google spanks them again.
Every time Google pulls out the paddle and slaps someone for abusing the search engines, it makes it harder for people who are providing actual relevant, valuable information to legitimately market their business.
So here’s what I’m going to encourage you to do in your marketing…
First, just make sure that your content is on topic to the search. That part is easy. All you’ve got to do is FOCUS your information. In fact, that’s why our friend up there in the video ranks all over the search engines for the same video… It’s because his video title, description, and keyword tags are all 100% focused around a single topic.
The only problem is, Google can’t tell what a video’s about, so it will rank everything that’s tagged and promoted properly, regardless of it’s value. Even though Google can’t tell, it doesn’t stop it from annoying searchers, and it won’t help build your brand in the way you want it to be built.
Written content works like that too, but Google can tell. When a niche is competitive… more focused, relevant content gets ranked more easily. Try and focus your information around one, maybe two keywords, no more. The more keywords you try and cover with your articles, the less effectively your content will rank for any one of them.
Ok I’ve got to run, so I’ll leave you with this thought…
Recently after the massive success of my Article Marketing Webinar that I did for MLM Lead System Pro, I did a follow up question and answer session that I’m going to post on my blog here in a day or so. My FAVORITE question someone asked was ‘Do your articles need to make sense?‘
I was sitting in my home office chair and I about fell out of it…
…YES, your content needs to make sense. Article marketing isn’t just for getting backlinks. Article marketing is for PROVIDING VALUE through RELEVANT CONTENT and getting RELEVANT BACKLINKS. Value, and I mean real value, real answers, real solutions is how you win the game.
GIVE without any thought of return… and everyone around you will think to give back. I think someone famous said something like that…
What are your thoughts?

David,
Thanks for the review. I too wondered why Joe always came up in the search engines with the same sappy video for every MLM Company on the net with the same message. It’s like dude, change your tune. I also noticed he spams his titles as well as description to gain ranking. Surprised Google does not pick up on it.
According to Mike Koenig of Traffic Geyser, Google does have video/speech recognition algorythms built in to their spiders and can tell if a video is relevant by what you say.
Relevance is King.
Thanks again for bringing it to light.

You’re kidding? Google has that kind of technology in their spiders? I’m going to have to actually watch those TG training videos… Keep meaning to do it but I’m too busy promoting and creating… I still need to finish my 8 day bootcamp (go figure)

hey David, I was on that last webinar and was also chuckling when I heard that question, ‘Does my article need to make sense?’ You handled it well..
I have been creating one piece of content per day and going through the exact process you outline and a question has arisen: How long do you typically find that it takes to rank for the keyword you are targeting? I am sure it depends on a few factors, but I am assuming it can be within 24 hrs. much of the time? Or does it take most of the article directories a few days or weeks to approve the article so the backlinks won’t show up for some time? Just trying to wrap my head around that so I will know if I need to change my strategy at all after a given amount of time has passed.
thanks, Kevin Doherty

Kevin,
I get a few waves of traffic, but actual rankings for my blog or article don’t kick in for a couple of weeks. I usually see a spike from the submissions first, then the video promotions, then the social networks, and then the rankings kind of dribble in and I don’t worry about it, I just keep creating more. Hope that helps.
Dave
P.S. As a site gets older, it gets more ranking power and it will rank better with less promotion necessary… something to look forward to.

David, Many thanks for the reply. That helps a lot. It looks like Traffic Geyser recently added an article submitter feature, probably not necessary if you can’t respin the articles. Also curious to know if you use the resubmit option for videos when you post there? Kevin

Hey David. I’ve just started following you and must say, I’m impressed (probably along with the majority of the Internet Network Marketing popluation). I’m glad you addressed the issue of RELEVANT content to provide True VALUE.
Like Kevin, I chuckled when I heard, “Does it need to make sense?”
Probably unlike Kevin, I spit out a little of my food in doing so.
I might need windshield wipers for my computer screen as I’m engaged in your content.
Thanks again for the awesome info!

Hi David,
Your Webinar the other night was tremendous. Keep the value coming as well. Thank for using one of my video’s as an example of what not to do when it comes to producing relevant content.
Now all the leaders that see the video will learn what not to do and make there marketing much more effective.
A while back I stated producing content with that is much more relevant. This way all the leaders out there will get much more value than I already provide.
You Deserve Massive Success

Joe,
No probs brother – hope you know I love seeing you everywhere! (and yes, I know that you provide value, that’s why I posted up the second vid, I was actually hoping you’d end up getting some exposure and leads from this post – that second video is killer, by the way, and if I had spent all of that time putting all of those videos everywhere I wouldn’t take them down, either.)
In success,
Dave
P.S. Let’s connect sometime man! Looking forward to it.

Awww, I think you were a little harsh on my Buddy Joe, Gotta hand it to him, he is Freaking Everywhere and the Man knows how to dominate every nook and cranny of the Internet and I’ve learned a TON from him! I do appreciate you really going into detail about the difference between Relevant content and what isn’t. Great information.

Barbie,
Cool name, by the way… Yes, I agree, Joe is everywhere. That’s by far his most significant skill. I tried to point out that he’s got some killer information out there too. In a year, however, I think that guy will simply dominate the video world because he works so hard and has improved his skill so much. I was just hoping to show a point (and I think you got it
Keep the killer content coming Barbie, great blog!

Just some absolutely awesome content. I’ve been doing some article marketing and achieved some decent views and conversions.
I for one am taking up your challenge.
Its funny, prior to watching these trainings, I had already written about 10 articles, ready to upload. I was going to do about 4 to 5 per week and send them to the top 10.
Now, I am going back over those 10 to tweak them and use your strategies to just dominate the search engines.
Love your way, your abundance mindset and that enthusiasm you have each and every day.
I am grateful to have come across your site and expect a call soon.
