Offline MLM Marketing Strategies

Offline MLM Marketing Strategies What’s with everyone trying to build their businesses solely online? Seriously guys, the greatest Network Marketing teams in the world were not built through Facebook. They actually weren’t built through anything, but offline marketing. Why? Well because offline marketing is duplicable. Some people just can’t wrap their heads around Internet Marketing. Most people in fact. So what I’m trying to say is you just can’t build a long term MLM business online.

Throughout my entire career as  a Network Marketer, I’ve always had the same problem. Not being able to duplicate my success down more than a few levels. What’s staggering is unless I personally teach my reps how to market online, 95 percent of them fail every time. Really… until a little over a year ago 90%+ of my MLM organization were personally recruited. I concluded that it was because I tried teaching them how to market online.

That was exactly why I didn’t ever achieve true success in this industry until I stumbled upon the crazy idea of offline marketing. I know you’re thinking offline marketing sucks and all…. but the truth is that it’s damn effective. I was actually a full time offline Networker at first. I didn’t make much money, probably because I was using outdated methods taught in the 80s. Damn my old Mentor Bob, he would tell me to stand in wall mart pitching everyone who came within 2 feet of me. Anyway, here’s a list of cool offline marketing strategies that can literally explode your organization.

1. Cold Calling

2. Seminars

3. Home Meetings

4. Drop Cards

5. Magazine Ads

6. Friends & Family + Strangers

7. Flyers & More

Starting off with cold calling as it’s the most well known offline marketing strategy. If you’re not teaching your team how to cold call, you’re missing out on a lot of duplication. Seriously, picking up the phone and calling people in the attempt to sell something is a great way to sell something (LOL). Although most people hate cold calling and think it’s a sleazy way to recruit, it works. By cold calling, I don’t mean calling up strangers and pitching them on your opportunity.

That’s one way to define cold calling, giving an unsolicited call, but I mean calling up people you’re linked to one way or the other. Friends of friends, leads you’ve generated online or even leads you’ve paid for. If you’re afraid of the phone or you suck at prospecting, you should just buy a few hundred leads and go through them all in a couple of days. I’m dead serious, it’s the ultimate way to master prospecting and cold calling. Talking to hundreds of leads all at once. Powerful stuff…

Next is seminars. I’m talking about turning up at seminars and networking with people. I know guys who do this full time, it’s their only marketing strategy. They signup for every seminar within a 2 hour radius. When you’re at a seminar, you really have no choice but to meet new people. And… when you meet new people at events, you can’t help but talk about your business opportunity. Then… after a few exchanges of business cards, you’ll have 20 odd prospects to follow up with.

While those 2 marketing strategies are really effective, nothing beats home meetings. Why? Well because they’re so personal. Of course, unlike the other strategies you can’t invite complete strangers over. So when you’re just starting off you should definitely hold a home meeting with some of your closest friends and family. Home meetings aren’t a long term strategy. Just something you and your team can do start your business off with a bang.

Drop cards, not going to say much about them as I’ve never really used them. Saying that, I hear great things about using dollar bills as drop cards with links on the back. Supposedly, you can get like 2 visitors to your site per card dropped. Honestly, it’s kind of an obsolete strategy, but I think it still works. If you’re in a city, I say great… go for it. Take 10 cards every time you go out. Leave them on bars, tables and even on the floor…

Magazine ads won’t exactly be feasible for everyone. They are expensive, but highly effective. You can get half/full page ads in home based business magazines pretty easily. You might not have heard of any, but there are plenty around. Magazines with 5,000+ monthly readers are worth buying ads in. It might cost you anywhere between $300-$10,000 for a half page ad, but the conversions are crazy. Since they’re so costly, you can always do co-op advertising with your team. Listen to this….

I was once in a company that offered monthly magazine ad co-ops. They had a sales funnel setup and a graphics guy design a nice ad each month. Between 25-100 people would each put in $100-$300 and the promotions would bring in 100-300+ reps. So great for team promotions and you can even run them yourself. Just know that you’re looking at $2000+ ahead for a decent ad.

Just a really quick word on friends and family. It is in fact OK to pitch your friends and family. Of course, you don’t have to be an ass about it. Hopefully you’ll be able to come up with a nice way to get them interested. I know some of you won’t want to even mention the word MLM, but really… it’s the fastest way to get your business off the ground.

Flyers & more… This is a little tacky but it totally works. I’m just mentioning all the offline marketing here. Printing flyers and pinning them against a bunch of walls might not yield great results. Generally flyers are used to attract customers to nearby attractions like restaurants, bars and night clubs. Saying that, I know of some really successful Networkers who pay people to drop flyers around town and underneath people’s windscreen wipers. So what else can you do? The sky is really the limit with offline marketing. Have you ever thought about TV ads?

Well I know they are damn expensive and all but, they may well be worth it. I listed 7 marketing strategies, there are A LOT more. All I can say is make use of them, experiment a little. Once you find something that does work, keep using it!

In Prosperity,

OMG David, you just broke it down from A to Z! Thanks for some great info...some get into network marketing attracted by the thought of "working from home in their pajamas" or "building a downline on auto-pilot- without making a single phone call." Great offline marketing strategies that anyone can duplicate.
