The first thing I’d like to do is lay some groundwork, so let’s take a look at how a successful marketer looks at building a network marketing business. If you want to be successful in network marketing the first thing you have to do is understand what you’re actually doing… What do I mean by that? Here’s the deal, the whole point of building a network marketing business is to create well educated distributors. Your main focus should be appealing to and finding people who can market, or finding people who are willing to learn how to market. The bottom line is that your main focus should be on finding and developing people who know how to acquire a large customer base of happy consumers. The best way to accomplish this task is by adding value, and or solving someone’s problem(s).
Network Marketing Success Secret… Skills vs Tools
You see most network marketers don’t realize that it’s not the company, or the comp plan, or the marketing tools they use… It’s not external things that will determine their network marketing success; it’s the correct application of the skills they develop. Most network marketers are like home builders that believe that the secret’s in buying the best tools, and having the perfect blueprint. After they realize that their house still isn’t built 3 months down the road they either quit or they run back to the hardware store believing that if they buy a new hammer or draw up a new blueprint they’ll finally achieve the success they’re looking for. What they fail to realize is that success in network marketing comes from the knowledge and the skill of the builder and not from the tools, or the blueprint they’re using. Now don’t get me wrong! You have to have good tools and a good blueprint, but you have to know how to read the blueprint and you have to know how to use the tools properly.
How to Recruit Like a BOSS!
O.K. so here’s a real life scenario of a top notch network marketer talking to his pastor about starting a home based business. We’ll call the master marketer Jon and we’ll call his pastor Bill.
Bill had looked at Jon’s opportunity a week prior but when Jon talked to Bill later on he discovered that Bill’s wife decided that she liked another company’s product better. Here’s that conversation…
Bill: Sorry Jon. Your company looks great but Betty found something she likes better and I think we’re going to go with that.
Jon: O.K. great, I’m glad to hear you found something Bill, but let me ask you a quick question… How are you going to build your business?
Bill: What do you mean?
Jon: Well your product, company, and comp plan are meaningless until you find a way to acquire your customers and business builders right? The money’s not in the product. It’s in your ability to MOVE (market) the product. How are you going to do that?
Bill: You know I never thought of that… Ummmmmmm I’m not sure.
In that scenario Jon expressed true leadership qualities. He wasn’t going into the whole “Well that product has RAT POISON in it! And the company comp plan will rob you blind!! MY opportunity will…” (commence throwing up useless information here). Instead what did Jon do? He helped his friend come to the conclusion that there was more to it than just joining a company. He offered Bill a valuable insight and a solution to a potential problem. He didn’t push his opportunity on Bill or tear down the company that he and his wife were thinking about going with. Instead he offered Bill a way to market his business whatever it might be. He was acting like a true professional and a true leader… Jon was prospecting LIKE A BOSS! LOL!
