I Thought I was David Wood For A Minute

There I was searching away on my laptop. I don’t even remember what I was looking for. Suddenly the lights started flickering and the smoke alarm started chirping. In a few seconds the power was gone.

I thought, no big deal, I have a fully charged battery in my laptop. I then attempted to refresh the web page I was on, it didn’t refresh. I tried it a couple of times before I realized the internet was down. No power, no wireless router.

Once again I thought, no big deal, I have my new 4G Verizon MYFI. I was back in business. The problem was I knew it wouldn’t last long because I hadn’t recharged it since I used it at my lake house over the weekend.

Well, within an hour my MYFI was dead and the power was still off.  I still had a lot of work to accomplish; this bog was on the list. Thinking back now, I guess I could have at least written the blog and waited for the power to come on to post it. Oh well, I decided I had to leave the house to go find some power and internet access. I felt like David Wood having to leave his 4000 square foot home in the middle of nowhere Costa Rica to go to a hotel  to have dependable internet.

I didn’t head to a hotel, I headed to the local BW3’s. Now I know what you’re thinking, I went there to drink beer, Wrong! BW3’s happens to have fast free internet access. It’s like going to Starbucks but better. Like Starbucks, you have to find a table that doesn’t wobble and has an outlet nearby.  AND THEY HAVE BEER! Starbucks has coffee and pastries, BW3’s has French Fries an BEER!

At any rate, there I was in a fairly empty restaurant/ bar around 3:30 in the afternoon. I got back to work implementing my training on lead generation. Before I knew it the Internet monster had eaten two and a half hours of my time. I looked around and the place was full. People were starting to eat their evening meal and I hadn’t even realized that much time had gone by.

I finished up what I was doing and headed for home. When I arrived I was able to use the garage door opener so I knew the power was back on. I got back in my home office and started typing. Now I’m right here on the page. Having a home business is great. The flexibility is fantastic. With today’s technology you can really work anywhere you can think of. Just make sure you charge up all your devices.

Leading you to Success,
Scott Grogan
