How To Build An Email List In 30 Days Or Less

How To Build An Email ListAs that really annoying saying goes… “The Money Is In The List”. Yeah, I know that damn quote is annoying and you’re not stupid. So if you know how to build a list the right way, it can be insanely profitable. Over the past 2 years I’ve learnt a lot of stuff about list building and stumbled upon several killer list building strategies.

I’ve actually tried and tested like 30 different ways to build a list so I thought I’d make a list of 4 semi free ways to build a list in 30 days or less. How many subscribers? Well it’s not impossible to build a list of 100,000 subscribers in 30 days but, probably around 1-5000 or so. It all depends what niche you’re in. Anyway, here’s the stuff…

1. Solo Ads

Buying solo ads is probably the fastest way to build a list. A solo ad is where you pay for an email to send an email to someone else’s list. Not an ad within their email, a full email to their entire list. There are a whole bunch of sites that allow you to search for solo ads. Otherwise referred to as Ezines, you can find plenty of them through Ezine Directories. Seriously, just Google Directory Of Ezines and you’ll find a sort of search engine for finding them.

Usually, you end up paying like $50 for 100 clicks. That’s been my experience, but I know guys who use Solo Ads religiously and get as many as 500 clicks for $50. If your squeeze page converts at 40% then that could be 200 subscribers added to your list. The conversions are generally super high; it all depends on the list you mail. When looking for solo ads, don’t be fooled by the number of subscribers a list has. You should pay for an average amount of clicks. Sidenote: always ask for proof of clicks.

As you might find a list of 100,000 you can mail for $100, yet only receive like 200 clicks. There are tons of lists like that where the subscribers have been hammered to death with multiple solo ads daily. Another way of finding Solo Ads is via forums or just by contacting list owners in your niche.

2. Guest Blogging

I’ve talked about this in the past for driving traffic, but not list building. The truth is that guest blogging is an amazing way to build a highly targeted list for free. There’s no cost involved and if you get your article published on a popular blog, it can add SEVERAL THOUSAND subscribers to your list!

Guest blogging is where you write a blog post and submit it in for review at a popular blog in your niche. If the blog owner/approval team deems it fit for their subscribers then it will go live on the home page. Resulting in hundreds or thousands of people reading your article and clicking through to your website. Usually you’re not allowed to link to capture pages, but you can link to your blog.

I don’t know this guy personally but, I know a guy who knows a guy that is a regular poster on Copy Blogger. Which if you don’t know, is a very successful blog in the Internet Marketing niche. Anyway this guy says that every time a post of his goes live on Copy Blogger, he receives an instant burst of around 1500 subscribers the same day. Then a few thousand more within 2 weeks. Then he receives continuous traffic for months/years from the people finding his posts via the search engines.

What guest blogging allows you to do is tap into the subscriber base’s of blogs that have spent years building them. So, to build a list using guest blogging you need to first find around 10 popular blogs in your niche. I would aim to find blogs with at least 5,000 RSS subscribers otherwise it’s not worth it. Then write a high quality article that you think their subscribers would enjoy and sent it to the blog owner. If the blog doesn’t have a guest blogging page, just use the contact form. Very simple to do, you’ll be allowed to link to our own blog/website where you can capture subscribers.

3. Ad Swaps

This strategy will only work once you’ve actually established a small list of subscribers. Similar to solo ads, your email goes out to other marketer’s lists. However, it’s totally free to do as you must exchange emails. Your email goes out to a marketer’s list and their email goes out to yours. I know guys who use ad swaps on a daily basis and have very unresponsive lists. However every time they do a swap they usually gain a few hundred subscribers.

So, I in no way recommend you be too aggressive with this strategy. I’d use it sparingly, around twice a month. That way you don’t give away your precious subscribers to hundreds of marketers who bombard their lists with sales letters. Instead, you can carefully select 2-3 marketers each month who have genuinely responsive email lists. I recommend that you start a new email account and subscribe to the top 50 marketer’s lists in your niche.

Then each month choose 2 or 3 marketers who’s lists you think will be responsive, then email them. Tell them on average you can send X amount of clicks to whatever page they’d like and you’d like to do an ad swap. Generally, you agree on a number of clicks to exchange and go from there. If you can’t match their clicks, just agree to do multiple mailings until you hit the target. Super powerful and free strategy to build a list. You’ll need one first!

4. Low Cost 100% Commission Product Launches

Again… this isn’t something I personally do, but I know guys who are killing it with this one. This strategy is basically where you throw together a quick info product. Price it at around the $7-$10 mark and give away 100% commission to affiliates. You can launch these products on forums and instantly add 500+ buyers to your list every time.

While a lot of work goes into an info product, they aren’t difficult to create and if you launch them on the Warrior Forum, you can easily add 300-1000+ buyers to your email list every time. I actually know guys who throw together quick WSO’s (Warrior Forum Special Offers) in as little as 2 days, then launch them 2 days later. Within hours the sales pour in and crazy numbers of subscribers are added to their lists. You should actually Google launching WSO’s as you need to read a book on the subject if you want to use this strategy.

The main reason I’d advice you launch your own low cost 100% commission products is because 1 buyer is worth 100 freebie subscribers. A buyer is 50 times more likely to buy from you in the future than some douche who’s seeking free stuff. If you don’t want to use forums, just do low-key product launches on say Clickbank or you can even use something like E-junkie. Once you’ve put together a product, a sales page and some graphics… Just contact a load of marketers in your niche who have email lists.

Tell them you have this great product, you’re giving away 100% commission and that you think the product is perfect for their subscribers.

5. Giveaways

This strategy is actually the fastest way to build a list for free. It probably beats guest blogging and ad swaps. Anyway, giveaways are where you put together a quick report for the sake of giving it away. But you don’t just hand it out all over the place. You contact the top 50 odd marketers in your niche and tell them that you have this great product you’re about to sell for $50.

Then say that you’re willing to give it away free of charge to their subscribers. Then if that’s not enticing enough, tell them you’ll even add their affiliate links throughout the course. So they get to look like a great guy for providing free content and they also make affiliate commissions. Win Win right?

So how do you actually gain subscribers? Well you could direct people to an opt in page where they have to opt in to download the report. But that usually throws marketers off. Instead send people to the download page and add a quick opt in form below the download link. Write “for more free reports and updates on report X, put your email in the form below”. Usually, you’ll get around 35% of people opting in.

This is a ninja strategy that hardly anyone is using. It’s surprising actually. As think about it. Say you contact 20 marketers who all have email lists of 10,000. Being conservative, let’s say 10 accept the offer (usually 60% do, it depends how “high profile” they are). Your email goes out and just 20% click through and download. So let’s say 20,000 downloads and just 20% opt into your list. If I didn’t mess up my math, that’s 4000 people added to your list virtually overnight. Powerful stuff I know! The cool thing is that most decent marketers will agree to it. But don’t be surprised when some A-hole tells you to stick your free report up your ass. (It happens LOL)
