How To Build An Audience That Builds Your Business (Part Two)
You have to promote your blog posts or nobody will ever read them. Plain and simple; traffic does not fall out of the sky. Without any kind of promotional effort whatsoever; you may VERY SLOWLY build your business through an audience.
But it really all comes down to the initial promotion. Once you’ve got a list of 3000 readers it’s sufficient to use this strategy alone to grow your business – even if Google HQ explodes or your site gets penalized.
The best way to promote is to promote to OTHER COMMUNITY MEMBERS. There are two types of people on the Internet.
People who actively participate within communities (by engaging in forum threads or commenting on blog posts, participating on social networks or social bookmarking sites) and people who don’t.
The people who don’t aren’t really immersed in the Internet, they visit a page, get the information they want and never come back. They don’t bookmark sites, subscribe to personal email lists or check their Twitter profile every 5 minutes. (Bad people, bad)
We want the people who actively participate in communities, and more importantly within communities in YOUR NICHE. So essentially you need to siphon community members from your competitors.
You can do this in several ways, most easily by BLOG COMMENTING & FORUM POSTING.
Blogs & forums are havens of communities.
People gather in forums to discuss a specific topic, the same with blogs. Blogs and forums are always focused on something specific, like online marketing or cat training or light sabers
To siphon traffic from blogs and forums, you simply need to participate in them. First, join the 5 most popular forums in your niche. Add a link to your site with a call to action in your forum signature (this gets displayed below all your posts).
Next start creating useful threads and replying to popular threads 10+ times a week. At the same time, find the top 10 most popular blogs; check them weekly or daily for new blog posts. Leave insightful comments on all new posts with a link back to your site.
With this strategy alone, you can very easily build a stream of traffic of 300+ daily visitors within 60 days. That’s plenty of traffic to build a community.
Now lastly you need to use an autoresponder like Aweber or Getresponse to build an opt-in email list of subscribers. Display an opt-in form in your blog’s sidebar as well as a popup. This will get a lot of the blog readers to join your list – which means you can send them to your new posts for more viral sharing.
Using a blog and email list alone to create viral social traffic is an easy way to grow your business. As your list of subscribers grows, so does your leverage (your social reach).
You’ll soon have a group of 500, 1000 or 3000+ subscribers who will share your content, IF you give them a good enough reason to.
Most subscribers rarely spontaneously share content. If they’re offered something in return however; it’s a damn sharing frenzy.
Start by sending out free PDF reports and videos. Use them as sharing bait, create a free report of some kind (20+ pages), setup a landing page for it, but in order to display the download link; the visitor has to share the very page on FB, Twitter or Google Plus (or your blog page).
Send this page out to your list of subscribers, and get ready for a massive influx of new visitors.
…and so it continues, rapidly expanding and perpetually growing your business.
