David Wood Told Carl to Kill a Gopher With a Widget?
Today I’m going to take a break from the “norm”, sorry no revelations here. No top secret mlm tips today or super-secret SEO strategies. Nope, today I’m gonna write about how cool it was making my “testimonials” for my 15k review. I know I know it sounds dry and uninteresting but it truly was a lot of fun. I think that’s what I like most about being a part of the Empower Network. It’s not just another thing on the internet, it’s a place that encourages creativity and gives you a bad-ass platform to express that creativity.
David Wood was having a contest, and the person who had the most “likes” on their product review would get a big blast of exposure to 20,000 people. As of right now I don’t think I got first place but I did win. I say I won because I got outside myself and focused on having fun and being entertaining. While I was filming my testimonials I just let go I didn’t think about all the frills and technical aspects. I did like the Nike commercials and just did it. I thought of some characters, got in costume and let ‘er rip. My freelance cuts were the most fun to do and most of them were the ones I actually used.
My most favorite clip was doing a white board presentation as a greens-keeper called Carl. “He’s just a Cinderella boy coming out of nowhere with tears in his eyes.” Carl was a lot of fun to do. The whole skit was done totally unscripted, all I did was get into character and go for it. Heck, I had no idea Carl killed a gopher with a widget until I watched the playback. Even though I hit the nail on the head with the first try I did a few more takes so I’d have something to choose from but most of all because it was soooooo much fun.
Some of the characters I came up with were a little more rehearsed but the idea for them were totally off the cuff. Another one of my favorites was Tony Ravioli, a mob boss who’s “all about the hits” and then there was the online ninja who swung around a pair of glowing nun-chucks. Then there was Blingy Bling who just wanted to give props to the sweet awesome training. Being able to focus on creating content was a nice break from all the other stuff I had to do to my self-hosted website in order to get to where I am now.
Some people might think marketing on the internet is a pain in the neck and to be honest sometimes it is. Setting up the infrastructure for your online business can be a grueling and unforgiving technical nightmare. I built my own blog and it wasn’t all bad, but I will say that most people wouldn’t do what I’ve done. Setting up your own blog and getting everything tied into it takes determination.
That’s why I’m really glad the Empower Network came along. Having an optimized platform that you don’t have to set up, make capture pages for and that you don’t have to make sales funnels for is a huge advantage. Not only that the Empower Network is geared to get more powerful as more people join. Take the advice from someone who’s built their own website and save yourself a lot of time and a lot of hassle by joining the Empower Network. Trust me when you see your articles climbing up to the top spot in Google you’ll be glad you did.
Here’s the “Testimonials” I did if you want to check’em out, or you can see them at the top of the blog.
