This is going to be a bit of a different article, because I’m aiming this not really so you, as a distributor can see the value of having your husband, wife, or significant other supporting you (I think you know) - but really, I’m writing to all of the husbands, wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, and ‘whatever else‘ is out there in relationship land, and it’s my hope that I can help you – just for one second understand why your boyfriend has ‘gone crazy’.

Lol.

Seriously – I know how tough of a business this can be on relationships sometimes, and taking a look at it, there’s no question why. It used to be that your husband would come home from work, eat dinner, get close to you and tell you how much better he’d be at the job than that stupid boss – and then you’d cuddle and watch movies until you collapsed from exhaustion.

Not any more.

Now, your hubby gets home, pumped up, hops on the computer and talks to people until you’ve got to drag him away, kicking and screaming and tell him that he’ll lose his job if he doesn’t wake up tomorrow. You think he’s gone nuts – I mean, just a week ago, wasn’t he pumped up about work and just satisfied with life?

Ladies and gents (you know who you are) let me just talk to you straight, because I know that your gal loves you too much to just tell it like it is.

We (the dreamers of the world) are NOT satisfied with a menial, 9-5 ‘kiss the bosses ASS‘ lifestyle, have never liked our stupid job, don’t see a future in it, and think that it’s wrong, lame, stupid, and a grinder ‘slave trade’ existence to wake up at 6am to make less spendable income than a coal miner made in the 1930′s.

(A special note on inflation and the shitty way the USA handles currency – to live an equivalent lifestyle to a grinder – coal miner in 1930, you’d have to NET over $400,000 a year in today’s dollars)

It is NOT because we love the computer more than you, want to market till 2am, or think ‘David Wood’ and Randy Gage are “Gods” – it’s because we are SICK AND TIRED of being SICK AND TIRED, and we see MLM (crazy as it may be) as a way to free ourselves from the grind – and -

- we need your support, BADLY.

Let me have a quick heart to heart in the first person (I know, strange article).

When I got started marketing my business online – I worked 18 hours a day, at least 6 days a week for a month straight before I made ANY money – and my check was about $350. If you broke that down, it would have been better to work at McDonalds – and to any outsider, it would have seemed that almost ANYTHING would have been better.

One night after writing about my 20th article, talking to people all day and having my only presentation have EVERY SINGLE PROSPECT hang up, I went into my room, curled up in a ball and started crying in my wife’s lap. (I know – you’d never think such a ‘manly’ tough person would cry. Lol. Didn’t quite have the ‘posture’ thing down yet…) – and I told my wife that I was about ready to quit – I literally thought I couldn’t take one more second of failure in this industry. You know what she told me?

“Don’t you EVER give up on your dreams – I don’t care if I have to work menial labor for the rest of my life and you fail till the day you die - the SECOND you stop dreaming is the moment you stop being the man I fell in love with” (or – something like that).

You know what happened? About 60 days later, I had been sponsoring about 7 people a week for 5 weeks straight, and I had a breakthrough moment and made more than $12k in 2 hours. That week I made more than $28,525 in less than 7 days and since then I’ve never had a week that I’ve made less than $5k, and I’ve had more weeks that were just as high.

I’ve had a day where I’ve sponsored 51 people in a single day, generated more than 300 leads in a single day, made friends all over the world, moved from Alaska to Costa Rica, paid cash for my cars, won a BMW, won two all expense paid luxury vacations – including a cruise to the Bahamas, won a Mac Book Pro for my wife – and RIGHT NOW I live in a beach house in Playa Palo Seco, marketing online with my bills paid six months cash in advance.

Was it worth it for my AMAZING wife to wait for my success? YES. Just one year ago we were living in a Van, completely broke.

Will your husband/wife/lover/boyfriend/something do the same? I don’t know - what I DO know, is that they WILL NOT make it happen without you. They need you.

So please, stop being an ass hole. (excuse the language there boss – but these are times when the truth needs to come out)

You know who my BEST FRIEND in the world is? It’s my wife, Ashley Marie Needles, and I love that girl with my whole heart – she’s my partner, my friend, my lover, and most importantly – the biggest supporter that a man could ever hope for. It’s because of HER that I can accredit all my success. Here’s a pic of her:

Ladies – PLEASE support your husbands dreams and husbands – PLEASE support your wives. They need you more than you can imagine and TRUST ME, it’s worth it, and they ARE NOT crazy.

How To Use Magnetic Sponsoring To Grow Your MLM Business

Over the last 10 months, I’ve been actively building my MLM business using the internet, and looking back, the results that I’ve produced have been dramatically different from the results that I’ve seen others create using strategies that, on the surface, “appear” to be similar.

For example, out of the leads that I’ve created, I’ve had more than double the response than almost all of my business partners, and I’ve been able to create more loyal subscribers than even the creators of the attraction marketing system that I primarily use to build my organization.

As an example – Brian Fanale, the co-founder of MyLeadSystemPro (the system I use) has brought in over 1500 members and has a little bit more than 200 active subscribers, whereas I’ve brought in about 1000 members, been in a year less, and have more than 350 active subscribers.

(At least that was true when I last asked him – the numbers may have drastically changed).

Now, that’s not to say that I’m better than Brian, just to point out that there must be something that I’ve done a bit differently.

When you’re looking at Magnetic Sponsoring, the essence of what it is is a system of books, trainings, and systems that teach you how to operate your business from the concept of a ‘funded proposal’. A funded proposal is simply a system that enables you to market products and services to your potential customers that create additional profit centers outside of your primary MLM opportunity.

What most people do when they find Magnetic Sponsoring is - they get excited, and rather than pitching their MLM business – what they do is they immediately start pitching Magnetic Sponsoring to everyone, thinking that somehow people will respond differently than when they were ‘pitching’ their opportunity.

Not the case. (When I see people do this – I think one thought – that they must have not read the book they’re pitching).

Lol.

The CORRECT way to use a funded proposal is to do what the authors of the best funded proposal systems have always taught – which is to create YOUR OWN value, content, and information that you give to your prospects, and then rather than ‘pitching’ your opportunity, or a system, or ‘Magnetic Sponsoring’, you recommend using it as an additional ‘value’ to your subscribers.

Seriously, read the book (that’s my first recommendation). Ha ha – if you are going to sell something, know what it says.

How did I do it? Simple – I created my own, entirely independent sales funnel for the system that I market and then my prospects see my recommendations as an ‘expert’ telling them where they can find solutions to their problems, and for some reason that makes people buy stuff like crazy.

What’s been the result of this different approach? More than 1000 members of an attraction marketing system, more than 400 personal recruits into 2 different network marketing companies, and creating more than 17,000 leads my first 10 months online.

BE DIFFERENT – it works, and people will see you as an expert.

Simply ask the question – “What value can I offer that is UNIQUE in the marketplace?” And start your online business there… I’ll see you at the top.

Does Attraction Marketing Work In Network Marketing?

‘Attraction Marketing’ has become a buzz-word over the last couple of years in the Network Marketing industry, becoming the new standard for online business building to people in all kinds of different MLM companies. In this article, I want to answer a burning question in the hearts of Network Marketers all over the world:

“Does attraction marketing really even work at all in Network Marketing?”

First, let me start off with the simple answer – YES. However, before I get into the reasons why – let’s look at what attraction marketing really is.

Mike Dillard has a famous quote that goes something like this:

“Network Marketing is an industry of promotion and marketing that is predominantly ran by distributors who have absolutely no idea how to market and promote.”

Here’s what attraction marketing is, in simple terms – it’s learning how to target and attract people into your business who have money to join, are ready to join now, and want to join YOU because they perceive some kind of value in becoming a part of your team that they wouldn’t get with someone else.

Put in terms like that – who wouldn’t want to market that way?

I first ran into the concept of attraction marketing when I was building an offline MLM business back in 2006, and I didn’t pursue the idea because my well-meaning upline leader told me that it didn’t work to build a sustainable business.

Looking back, I have to say that response is absolute poppycock. I don’t mean to step on any toes here – but what makes more sense – attracting people with money, who want to join, who are ready to join now with you – or running around trying to convince everyone to get in your business, having absolutely no idea whether or not they even have a desire, or interest in joining this industry?

This is a revelation that I had – we used to run around passing out audio CD’s to build our business. We’d get really excited, make a list of everyone we had ever met – and run around passing out promotional audios to them to sponsor people.

Now, that approach absolutely did work, but there was a lot of grinding manual labor involved. I had a sudden revelation – why not pay a bunch of teenagers minimum wage to wander around and pass out CD’s?

Seriously – as a business owner, why would I bother to do something that I could pay someone $6.50 an hour to do? If the approach is effective and profitable, (which it is), why not leverage myself, pay someone else to do the manual labor, and only talk to people that are interested?

THAT’S the foundation of Attraction Marketing – so does it work? YES.

The only question that you have to ask is – how do you implement that into your business, both on and off the internet. Here’s my recommendation for you:

Start THINKING like a business owner. Always ask yourself the question – is what I’m doing cost effective, attractive, and is it producing the results that I want? Also, it would be a good idea to get involved with a team that is building the business at a grass roots level. Be careful about big online gurus that have never actually built a downline (they’re everywhere), and make sure that the team that you’re getting involved in is actively involved in aggressively building their organization.

Let me tell you from first hand experience – these approaches have totally changed my business. In my current company, I’ve sponsored 205 people in less than 4 months, created incomes of more than $25,000 in 3 days, and moved to the beach in Costa Rica – running my whole business from the internet. Life is grand – and I’ve got attraction marketing to thank for that.

Random Rants On The Long Term Sustainability Of The Numis Network

The Numis Network is an absolutely fascinating MLM business that has attracted a lot of criticism and praise from people who are involved in the Network Marketing industry.

Watching it from an outside perspective, it’s been fun to see what people have said as this new company has unfolded and started to become a name in this industry.

One thing that I wanted to mention briefly is my thoughts on the sustainability that Numis has over a long period of time, since this is a question that has been asked by myself and people who have called me, asking for advice on whether or not they should join this company.

First of all – let me say that no one has a crystal ball. Some companies that you think are going to make it big end up tumbling to the dust, and some companies that you think are going to fall apart go to the very top.

I had an experience once where I was building a business for six months and the company completely collapsed right in front of my eyes. Looking back, I could see it coming with what I know now – but at the time I swore that it would last forever.

How does this relate to the Numis Network? I think that the biggest indicator of long term success in a Network Marketing company is the leadership of the company, and Numis has absolutely the best leadership that I’ve ever seen in a start up MLM. When I had that experience with my previous company, the leadership of the company just didn’t understand all of the complexities of building an MLM company long term, whereas in the Numis Network, the leaders have been actively involved in building companies at the corporate level for a combined total of 60 years.

Another thing to look at when studying a company is how they market their business. Most MLM companies that start up have absolutely no clue how to create advertising and marketing tools that work for the average distributor.

At the Numis Network, they’ve got some of the best tools for a new network marketing distributor to use that I’ve seen in my career in this industry, and the founders absolutely know what they’re doing.

That being said – when looking at this company, you’ve got to evaluate it from all angles, and it would do good to make sure that you not only look at the company itself, but also the team that you decide to get involved with, as it will make a difference in your ability to produce the results and income that you’re looking for in an opportunity.

After a careful review, studying the product, the company, and the leadership – I believe that the Numis Network is poised for long term, sustainable growth in the MLM industry, and it is definitely a company worth studying further.

Just make sure before you make any decisions, that you get on the phone with the leadership team that you’re looking at getting involved with, and make sure that they’re in this with a long term vision. The One Thing That Will Make Or Break Your Network Marketing Business

Vision.

When I got started in my network marketing business, I literally was in the dark. The funny thing is, for some crazy reason I just wouldn’t quit. I got started with the same advice that most of you did – and it goes something like this:

“Make a list of EVERYONE you know, call ‘em up, and pound them to death until they either join or die…”

Lol.

Ok – maybe it wasn’t that bad – but it kind of was… For some reason – for the next 5 years, I hung around in this business and just kept on doing the same thing over and over again – ‘WISHING’ that it would work.

Five years later – it didn’t work any better than it did when I started doing it in the first place. It’s funny a lot of times how we get in this industry and we try and do things that massive, huge companies with 10 million dollar advertising budgets do. Small business IS NOT large business, and it needs to be treated differently.

So what’s the difference between marketing for a small business? What you do has to be created with one goal in mind – responsiveness. How does the right market respond to what you’re doing – and does the response end in profit or loss?

Looking at it like an intelligent business person who is in a ‘for profit’ enterprise – Network Marketing really only has 3 goals.

1. To sell products, services, and marketing tools.
2. To recruit distributors to sell products, services, and marketing tools.
3. To help your team sell products, services, and marketing tools.

That’s really it. So rather than sticking to one particular strategy – why not just look for the most effective, efficient way to make that happen?

For example – with the ‘friends and family’ approach – it just begs the question: Do friends and family respond well to home meetings – or not? If not, then why bother?

What I’ve found is that home meetings work well in some markets and not in others. Certain people have spheres of influence that respond well and others don’t. A lot of people with a non-responsive sphere of influence keep hammering their relatives to death again and again.
The reality is that in Network Marketing, you have to move a massive amount of people to action to create any kind of sustainable, BIG result – so why play small, anyways?

I remember when I got into this industry, they told me to sponsor 2 people a month to go diamond in 2-5 years. Funny enough – there’s almost no one in this entire industry that worked with such tiny numbers to create any kind of massive leverage. MOST network marketing leaders making six figure residual incomes have sponsored well over 100 people, some of them have sponsored 200, 300, or even 500.

The fact is – that rather than dilly dallying around with small, ineffective approaches, and when something doesn’t work – just smashing your head against the wall harder, doesn’t it make sense to find out what works and stop doing what doesn’t – and stick with what’s effective?
I started this article off with one word – VISION. Funny enough, though, that is NOT what is going to make the most difference in your business. You can have huge dreams and still beat your head against a wall. The thing that is going to make the biggest difference is learning the simple ACTIONS that WORK to create the results that you want – and then having the VISION to follow through with them.

Your vision will keep you around and motivate a team once you get one – but if you want results – you’ve got to learn the skill of direct response marketing, and you’ve got to THINK like a small business entrepreneur who only has time to do something that’s going to create and increase bottom line profits.

What do we make money for in MLM? Selling, recruiting, and our team selling and recruiting – that’s it. Let’s not make this industry mysterious, because all of those things are easy to learn when it’s all your focused on, and you look past the hype.

One more story and then I’ll let you go. I had a team member just the other day who told me that they had to unsubscribe from my emails because they get anxiety every time they go to their inbox. They said they never know if there’s going to be an emergency get together – or some kind of promotion, or what’s going to be there. (I cycle through periods of promotion and value).

It kind of made me chuckle – because for me – I’m only doing things that work. If that kind of email didn’t make massive amounts of sales, I wouldn’t write it – and if you’re not in this to make sales and profits – why are you doing this at all?

Just make sure that you keep focused on what MATTERS in your business – to your business, and you’ll be off on the right foot.

There are only 4 real objections to anything – Even in the Numis Network

I originally was going to target this article at a generic audience, but I figured that if I was more specific, even if you’re in a different company than me, you can benefit by learning specifically how to think through different things that people say.

There are a couple of things that I want to cover before getting in to the real intent of this article.

First, I want to define what an objection is, and what it’s not. The sponsoring process in the Numis Network – or any other network marketing opportunity can be thought about as if it were in six steps, which I’m going to cover in my next article. Each of these steps is the same, whether it is using traditional methods, or ‘new school’ online marketing methods. It’s important to discover that even though the methods of moving through the process in each school are different, you’re really doing the exact same thing.

For the sake of objections in The Numis Network – let’s cover only the first 3 steps, because there’s a common mistake I see people making that leads to not getting the exact result that you want.

The First 3 Steps Of The Sponsoring Cycle:

1. Building Rapport – one of the biggest mistakes people make with marketing, sales, and overcoming Numis Objections is that they never build a strong rapport with their prospects BEFORE going in to phase 2. This way of thinking is the single cause of people outside of the Numis Network not seeing the company as a professional business. The easiest way to remember this is by remembering the phrase ‘friendship first – sponsoring second’ OR ‘rapport first, sponsoring second’. If you don’t have a good rapport with your prospects, you’ll never know their real objections, because they won’t tell you. I didn’t do this correctly just yesterday, and it almost made me not sponsor someone that I could have enrolled – just be aware of it and look out for my next article.

2. Pre-qualifying – this is the second mistake that I see distributors in Network Marketing making in the sponsoring process – is that they don’t effectively pre-qualify their prospects. The funny thing is – if someone isn’t pre-qualified, they are NOT a prospect, and people don’t understand this. Someone who is not effectively pre-qualified isn’t a prospect, they are a ‘suspect’. One objection in Network Marketing I see people making all the time is that they try and overcome the ‘I don’t want to do it’ suspect. Notice I didn’t say the ‘I don’t want to do it’ objection – because it’s not an objection. Remember, someone can’t give any real objections unless they are a real prospect, and you can never know if they are a real prospect unless you pre-qualify them. Watch out for my next couple of articles to learn how to pre-qualify prospects – you can do this either through traditional marketing tools, OR, through an automated marketing funnel.

3. Ask questions and find the core need – the third mistake I see people making in handling Numis Network objections is that they don’t effectively find a need, and if there isn’t a real need or want, you should never try and sponsor someone. The great thing is, that most of the time if you pre-qualify someone correctly, you’re not talking to someone unless they DO have a strong desire, and you just need to find out what it is. The rule is – the stronger your pre-qualification step is, the less people you’ll end up moving to step 3, but the more qualified they’ll be and your sponsoring ratios with those people will be DRAMATICALLY higher. I used to make people set an interview time to work with me when I was actively recruiting 2 people per day (I spend more time now helping my team recruit) – and of the people that booked an interview – my sponsoring ratio was more than 90%.

That’s all we need to cover for the purpose of this article – now assuming that you’re moving through the process correctly, let’s get back to the four REAL objections in Numis and how to handle them.

Here Are The Only Real Objections To Doing Anything:

1. I don’t have the time. Remember – if someone isn’t a prospect, you don’t have rapport, and there isn’t a need, this isn’t an objection, and you need to back up in the sponsoring cycle to ever move forward. The same thing goes for any of the other four Network Marketing objections.

2. I don’t have the money. This is actually one of the easiest objections in the world to overcome if it’s actually a real objection. The problem people have is that they try and solve it when it isn’t real. Most of the time, if you’ve effectively pre-qualified people and found a need, they’ve got a credit card right there in their pocket that they can put the $495 on that it takes to join Numis, and they are just saying they don’t have the money because it’s something that people naturally do. Most of the time when people say this, the actual objection is ‘I don’t believe it will work’, OR ‘I don’t believe it will work for me’. See how to overcome the ‘no money’ objection for more details.

3. I don’t believe it will work. MOST of the ‘not real’ objections that you run into in The Numis Network, like questions about whether the coins are valuable or not fall into the ‘I don’t believe it will work’ objection. This is also one of the easiest objections to overcome once it’s properly identified – if people don’t believe it will work, it’s because they haven’t seen a proper benefit based presentation or had the message validated in the sponsoring cycle. The problem is – sometimes people assume that this is a real objection, and they haven’t built rapport, pre-qualified a prospect, or found a real need, and really, the prospect is just brushing them off.

4. I don’t believe it will work for me. This is a distinctly different objection than the ‘I don’t have time’ issue, or the ‘I don’t believe it will work’ objection that you’ll find in The Numis Network. Sometimes, when someone says this, they really don’t think they have the time – OR - they just feel like they can’t spend the money (which usually just means they don’t believe it will work). When this is real, it’s also easy to overcome, but you have to identify it and make sure that it is the actual, core objection.

That’s really it as far as objections in Numis go – really, that’s true in anything else, too.

Notice I didn’t overcome the ‘I have to think about it‘ statement. That’s because most of the time when someone says that, it’s not true. There are actually only about 13 people out of every 100 that think about anything before they decide, and when someone says that who is a REAL thinker – you NEVER, ever overcome it – you let them think about it and move on.

I also didn’t overcome the ‘I have to talk to my spouse’ statement. Also, that’s because it’s not an objection, it’s a statement that is sometimes real, and sometimes not real. Not everyone talks to their spouse before they make decisions. Most people actually don’t. For example, I never ask Ashley before I make any business decisions. She found out I joined Numis 4 hours after the fact when I had 40 people in my team. When someone is a real ‘I have to talk to my spouse’ person - let them do it and if they really want to join, they’ll join. Most of the time, people are saying this to brush you off because they don’t have a need, they haven’t been pre-qualified – or you don’t have a good rapport and they’re perceiving you as being too ‘pushy’. In my opinion, all of the other 16 sub-objections aren’t really objections, they’re either statements, or they’re the result of not moving through the sponsoring process in the right way, with the right people.

So how do you overcome objections? The process is simple. Remember, you have to be moving through the sponsoring sequence properly or this won’t work, but let’s assume that you are.

Here’s how I like to do it, and it works out pretty good most of the time:

1. Qualify the objection to see if it’s real. The specific language that I use for this will be covered in a future post, but you can go listen to the ‘how to overcome the money issue‘ training that I did for my exact language.

2. Go back to the core need that you found in step 2 of the sponsoring sequence, and find out if the core need was real, or if it wasn’t. Find out if the need is real, if this problem was gone forever, is there anything else that they need to know before they got involved.

3. If the core need was real, answer the objection with a story (more on this in a future article). If the need wasn’t real, find out if they are serious, and if they are, find their real need again, and move forward in the process. (if you need to do this, you need to become more effective at building rapport and asking questions, because it’s a mistake in the sponsoring process, NOT an objection)

4. After you answer the objection, test to see if it solves the problem by asking them.

5. If it solves the problem, assume that they told you the truth, and begin the enrollment process with a statement like – ‘Awesome! It sounds like you’re ready to get started…’ OR ‘Are you near a computer right now?’ and then lead them through the Numis Network enrollment.

This works under a few assumptions, and they are:

1. You have a strong rapport, or ‘connection’ with your prospect

2. They are effectively pre-qualified.

3. You’ve found a core need.

4. You don’t care at all if they join or not,(important) you’re looking more to see ‘is there a potential business relationship here or not?‘ and you are sorting through to find the real ‘prospects’ that are out there for Numis. Please don’t try and overcome objections with people that aren’t prospects, because it’s annoying to the people, a waste of your time, is the core cause of frustration in Network Marketing, and makes people who are being professional have to overcome additional stigma. Professionals ‘sort’ and Amateurs try and ‘convince’.

There’s also a couple of other things to note about objections to Numis, and they fall under the ‘not real‘ objections, and that is the absolute idiots on the internet that bash Numis to get attention.

Now, I don’t want to mention the idiots by name, so I’ll use a couple of the ones who aren’t, but will illustrate the point.

For example, a lot of people think that Ty Tribble is giving a real objection to Numis when he bashes the company on his blog. Now I’m not saying that Ty Tribble is an idiot – I’m not saying that at all – I actually have a tremendous amount of respect for his skill set in marketing and his accomplishments in the industry – he has a niche that works well for him and the people in his team. Remember, Ty Tribble is not a prospect – he’s a leader in another Network Marketing company, and his primary purpose on his blog is to capture traffic and sponsor them into his own business. If Ty were a prospect, his statements would be easy to answer, but he’s not – so all of the Numis reps that are going out there trying to convince him that his opinions are wrong are really just wasting their time. When I first saw Numis, I wasn’t a prospect, and I did the exact same thing – and I couldn’t be reasoned with and I wouldn’t listen. (See my Numis Network Review for more details)

However, the situation changed, I became a real prospect, and when I looked at the facts, I had to admit that my statements were founded in ignorance, I was wrong, and the best thing to do was to make a decision to get involved with a company, a team, and a product that were destined for greatness.

With a real prospect, everything that Ty Tribble or the other guy – David Wilcoxson, who bashes Numis online can be overcome by simply showing them the correct information, and they have to realize that what we have is different than what they thought… Just realize the difference between the two kinds of people, and spend your time with the people that will help you grow your business (unless you just love wasting your time all day:) ).

The only other assumption that we need to work with in overcoming Numis Network objections is that it is better for people if they decide to become involved than if they don’t. If you have that belief, you’ll be able to move through anything that’s real.

What I just told you will move your ratios DRAMATICALLY higher if you ‘got it‘. How to attract (and keep) an incredible coach in your life

Coaching is absolutely one of the most important, fundamental concepts that is both can help you reach new heights of success in your business and life, and can help you crack the ‘secret code’ to unbelievable, massive growth and duplication in your team. Funny enough, it’s probably the most ignored strategy in Network Marketing, both as a distributor trying to find that ‘secret sauce’, and a leader who’s wondering why he’s got a bunch of frustrated downline who don’t know how to build a business.

Absolutely, without question, this is the most important concept that you can ever learn in business: If you want to be at the TOP of your game, you MUST be willing to be coached, and find the best person possible, who can help you clean up your game and take it to the next level. I like to use Michael Jordan as an example, because even though he was arguably one of the top basketball players of all time, at the height of his success, when every move he made seemed magical, he was still a team player – and willing and ready to receive guidance and feedback.

Now, keep in mind that Jordan was BETTER at basketball, and had more success in his life than any of his basketball coaches, at any point in their life experienced – but still he was willing to take critical feedback, guidance, and correction at skills that he was arguably the best in the world at performing.

Now why is that? I’ve heard people say things like ‘only listen to people who are getting better results than you in the area you’re seeking’, but then why did a $100,000,000 per year earner take advice from people that earned dramatically smaller incomes, played basketball less well, and were never as influential as he was?

Because a great coach isn’t there to be better at everything, he is there to always help keep you on track. A great coach is good at identifying the strength of the players, and at helping people improve skill sets that they don’t even have themselves. The most important thing that a coach can do, however, is to help you focus and keep on the right track, and hold you accountable to the things that you agree that you’ll do together.

I had a major breakthrough a few weeks back, when I had a guy come on one of my coaching calls who’s been one of the largest distributors in the Amway corporation for the last 20 years. He shared some concepts that have totally transformed the way that I thought about life and business, and it put into perspective something that was missing in my business, and was one of the most important changes I’ve made to the way I approach building a team – and here’s what it was:

Putting in place a structured accountability and coaching program for anyone in my team who is willing to be accountable and follow instructions. Now, keep in mind, I couldn’t possibly have the time in a week to coach every person in my organization, and that’s ok – because I don’t need to – because only people that are willing to be accountable will track their results, activity, and follow instructions – which is about 15% of my team, and I have my leaders coach their leaders, and so on.

One of the things that I realized after coaching back to back team members for 10 hours straight, the first day I implemented the program, was that the biggest roadblock that team members have is that they don’t know what to do next. This is something that shocked me – because I intuitively seem to understand what comes next, and see Network Marketing as a simple, relationship recruiting based business model, and it seems natural what should always come next in building a group.

However, what I found is that most of my team, even after having great training, tools to buy, a great fast-start system, online marketing funnels, a warm market prospecting system, even if everything is in place – most people haven’t had my experience base in network marketing, and they have absolutely, no idea what to do next, AND, I found that by guiding them in one direction, not only were they more productive – but they are happier, work harder, understand better, and prospect more. Plus, my organizational recruiting is more than a third higher, and I’m only 2 weeks in to the program.

Fascinating looking at it. What I want to talk about now, though, is how to attract a good coach and keep them in your life. I have a famous quote up at the top of this article that I’ve heard 1000 times and have no idea where it came from, and it still holds just as true. If you want the attention of a great coach, be willing and ready to learn, be a sponge, and be willing to take action and be accountable.

Sometimes, as a coach to others, I start giving feedback and advice, only to be interrupted by a student who has absolutely no idea how to do something, giving me their opinions on ‘the way it is’. If you want to attract and keep a great mentor – be willing to listen and correct your direction, even if you don’t completely agree – because chances are a great mentor can see things in you that you don’t yet see.

For example, I pay a few professional coaches, and one of them made a couple of suggestions to me over the course of the last couple of weeks that were right ‘in my face’ suggestions about my personal life. Funny enough, though, just one of those suggestions has now made me more money than I’ll pay for 2 months of coaching, just 2 weeks after hearing it.

Had I been an amateur, and had a huge ego, I’d be short about $2,000 short in the last 2 weeks, from no additional effort or energy than I would have expended otherwise.

You and I are simple beings, and we can be compared to a rocket headed to the moon – off course 98% of the time. Just like NASA gives constant nudging, feedback, and guidance to a rocket, a coach will help you, off track 98% of the time still reach your destination on schedule. So here are some ideas to help you:

1. Track everything you actually do – for example, if you’re marketing, you could track how many articles you’re writing – how much you’re spending on PPC, how many leads your generating, your landing page conversions, etc. If you’re warm market prospecting, you could track how many one on one presentations you’re doing, how many 3 way calls you’re doing, etc. Always remember – WHATEVER you track you can improve, and whatever you don’t track, you can’t improve.

2. Have a clear intention with your coaching sessions, of a specific, tangible, measurable goal that you would like to achieve in your life. It’s easier to steer a moving ship – and if you know exactly where you’re headed, your coach will be more able to guide you.

3. Don’t whine to your mentor – they don’t need to hear your whining to guide you, they need to see what you’re doing, not doing, and the result that you either got or didn’t get, so they can help create specific course corrections in your business.

4. Be willing to follow through and complete ALL of the assignments that your mentor gives you, no matter what it takes.

If you’re open, ready, and willing, sometimes a great coach that will transform your life is just a phone call away – sometimes you need to pay, and you should be open and willing to doing so. Here’s my final thought for you, though:

When someone shows up in your life who is willing to take their time, knowledge, energy, and effort and POUR their heart and soul into you – thank your lucky stars, God, or whoever it is for you and be willing to go to the ends of the earth – because NOTHING will help you more in your business life than someone who is willing to take the time, no matter what it takes – to help you reach your goals. And if you want to transform your results in your business – be willing to coach your team, and take things to a whole new level…
