Can Millionaire David Woods Be Wrong?-Five Simple Tips to Write Effective Articles

So you have heard the story of David Woods by now. In 2009 he was living in a green van in Oahu Hawaii. (Indecently if I had to live in a green van, I would certainly want to be in Hawaii) One of the strategies that helped David upgrade to his current residence, was writing effective articles.

If you are working his 90 day challenge you know that you need to write an article of blog post each and every day. The biggest problem is that most people haven’t had to do any serious writing since high school. That could be a problem. If you are a newbie to this article writing thing, take heed, you are not alone.

By following these simple ideas you can make quick work of writing articles.

1. Keep your articles short. A good article is short, sweet and to the point. A good rule of thumb is to keep your articles between 300-700 words. Why that is range important? Because the more words you have in your writing the better chance you have that the search engines will find it and index it.

Over 700 words you better have a good reason. If you have a novel you could lose your reader.

2. Keep your paragraphs short. Three to five sentences per paragraph is perfect. When you focus on brevity it makes you article super simple to read, short paragraphs show lots of white space on a page and makes it a quick read.

3. Use bullet points. Using bullet points or numbering the main ideas (like in this article) will keep you from having to think about the fancy words you would have to think of or to create transitions or one thought to another. Bullet points also help your readers organize the article in their head.

4. Keep the article laser targeted and focused. In other words, if you want to write an article on how to train your cat, it’s real easy to get lost in all the little side stories that people don’t care about. Zeroing in on one idea will keep your reader interested and wanting more.

Your audience is looking for the information that nobody else can give them. If you prove to be that writer your audience will look forward to new material. Additionally, if you have more than one idea to write about save that idea for another article.

What this means is that your unique personality should shine through in an article. That way your readers will get to know you and will be able to recognize your writing because of that.

So when you are just getting started in your 90 day challenge this article writing thing can scare off some people. Don’t over think it. Just get started. You will get better and better at writing effective articles.

Here’s to your crazy success.
