5 WordPress Plugins For Monetizing Your Blog

Monetizing Your BlogLet’s face it; monetization is in fact difficult. Well, not that difficult but it takes a while to properly monetize your blog. There are just so many options. You can sell advertising space; promote affiliate products, digital or physical, CPA offers and even more. Most “bloggers” tend to monetize their traffic using Google Adsense or basic Affiliate Marketing.

To be honest the best monetization strategy for any blog is selling your own products. You get 100% of the money, credibility, affiliates and being a product owner opens doors. However you shouldn’t just dive into any 1 monetization strategy. You should employ a variety of monetization strategies as your blog goes through the different phases of its life. With all that being said, here are 5 WordPress plugins for monetizing your blog:

  1. Ad Injection

Ad Injection is by far the best monetization plugin if you use any kind of ads. Whether text or banner ads, Ad Injection will help you place them. No matter how you’re monetizing your blog, you need to insert banners/links somewhere. The default sidebar just doesn’t offer the customization most need.

With Ad Injection, you can insert Google Adsense ads, Amazon Associates Ads, Clickbank ads or your own. The revolutionary feature of Ad Injection is the ability to control who sees particular ads. If you have a large blog that gets a variety of traffic – you shouldn’t use the same ads all over.

Ad Injection allows you to control which ads get displayed where based on post length, post age, visitor referrer and IP address. You can also configure Ad Injection to display ads in the sidebar along with many places within your posts. For me Ad Injection has been a god send. Think about the potential; let’s say I have two main blog categories. Blogging and Search Engine Optimization. Most people would display the same ads on all categories.

Using Ad Injection you could display targeted ads for each category. Let’s say the posts in each category are getting a combined 1000 searches/month each. With that amount of traffic, I could create two products, one on blogging and another on Search Engine Optimization. Using the plugin I could funnel both categories of traffic to their individual products. Therefore giving each category what they want and dramatically boosting conversions.

2. SEO Smart Links

SEO Smart Links in a blog post on website monetization, strange right? Well that’s what I thought when someone else talked about it. After a little reading, I realized just how powerful SEO Smart Links is for monetization. If you don’t already know, the plugin is basically for internal linking. It allows you to input a list of keywords and URL’s you want them to link to. So whenever the keywords come up in one of your posts or pages, they will automatically be linked to their respective URL’s.

It’s a fantastic plugin for internal linking and I use it heavily. What I didn’t know about the plugin was that it can link keywords or phrases to ANY URL’s, internal OR external. So all you have to do is link targeted keywords to affiliate offers, capture pages, CPA offers or your own sales pages. Very simple to do, very effective!

3. WordPress Shopping Cart Plugin

At one point or another in your online marketing career, you’re going to want to sell your own products. Whether you want to sell digital or physical products, WordPress Shopping Cart can help! In a nutshell this plugin allows you to sell both digital and physical products via your WordPress blog. The plugin allows you to add multiple products and organize them all into several product categories. It also allows you to insert images, descriptions and more for every product.

Using the plugin you can SECURELY allow customers to download files from your site. The plugin has countless features; shipping options, product variations, suppliers, payment gateways, affiliate products integration and more. The plugin has countless features and options allowing you to run fully fledged WordPress stores. The plugin costs around $55 for a single site license and is worth every penny if you’re interested in selling your own digital/physical products via WordPress.

4. CLEENG Content Monetization

This plugin doesn’t actually help your normal monetization strategies; it’s a strategy itself. The plugin allows you to lock certain parts of your website/blog or even lock individual pages. By lock I mean restrict access unless money is paid. In other words… CLEENG allows you to charge money for visitors to access certain parts of your site/individual pages. The business model won’t actually work for all types of sites/blogs.

As unless your content isn’t accessible for free elsewhere, you’ll waste your time with this plugin. However it works for countless sites. The New York Times site uses this model successfully. You can restrict access to your best content or secret knowledge you’ve shared in the past. Very powerful plugin that can help you make A LOT of money if used correctly.

5. OZH’ Who Sees Ads

Who Sees Ads is essentially an advanced ad management plugin. It lets you decide who will see your ads depending on several things. Using the plugin you can manage the ads in your sidebar and within posts or pages. It’s very similar to Ad Injection but offers a couple of different features which make it worth having. For example, you can display ads based on the following criteria: is the visitor a regular? Does the visitor come from the search engines and is the reader reading an old or new post. It offers much more, but those are the basic options. If you’re using something like Adsense or Affiliate banners, this is a must have plugin.

6. Ad Rotate Plugin

This is another cool plugin that performs a simple function; it rotates your ads! Figuring out which banners convert best and which affiliate products make you the most money can take a long long time. So wouldn’t it be easier if you could just input a whole bunch of banner ads and see exactly how they each convert? Wouldn’t it be cool if you had information like the click through rates of each banner ad? Yes, it would and the Ad Rotate plugin does exactly that. How do you use it? Simple, find a whole bunch of affiliate products you want to promote, insert their ads into the plugin and see which one converts best after a month. Then go with the best converting advertisement, start profiting and test more ads!

In Prosperity,

David Wood
