2 Ways To Increase Your Conversion Rate Right Now
When I first got started in online marketing, conversion optimization never really crossed my mind.
I thought that all products converted no matter what, all I had to do was send traffic to a few affiliate links.
I mean, that’s why people do affiliate marketing right? Because they don’t know how to do all the jedi conversion stuff.;
The reality is, you can’t sell anything online without a little conversion optimization and marketing knowledge. Even if you’re selling the highest converting affiliate product in a niche and you have LASER targeted traffic; you probably won’t sell many units unless you optimize and test.
Remember, if you have a squeeze page that converts at 2%, a 2% increase in conversion rate would result in 100% more sales. That’s the power of conversion optimization.
So here are 2 ways to increase your conversion rate starting right now:
1. Split Test Everything
The most important action for anyone trying to boost their conversion rate is to split-test every aspect of their website and sales funnel. Split-testing or A/B testing means creating multiple variations of a page, splitting incoming traffic equally between each variation and seeing which one produces the highest conversion rate.
The highest converting page wins and will be replace the old page.
Always split test the same element. You can start to split-test your headlines, logo, page layout, navigation menu, popups, opt-in forms, buy now buttons, your offer and pricing options. You should split-test every element on your site/sales funnel/sales page, but those are the key ones.
At all times, you should be running at least 3 or 4 split-tests simultaneously. There are many tools out there for split-testing, some more expensive than others, some free. Here are two I’ve used myself:
If you’re just getting started, Google Website Optimizer is a perfectly good and is free. Split-testing is the best and fastest way to increase a site’s earnings. If you were selling some kind of marketing software, you might be pricing at $50/month and getting a 2% conversion rate.
A popular split-test ran by almost every half intelligent software company is to offer a free trial. After running a split-test you might find that a 7 day free trial followed by automatic billing generates a 9% conversion rate. That’s more than quadrupling sales. There is no excuse not to be testing your site, its landing pages and most importantly your sales page.
2. Create Compelling CVP
You do not want to be another one of those websites that loads up and has a little stock image of a customer support lady and a big headline saying ‘Wecome’. You need a clear value proposition.
In other words, ‘What’s In It For Me’.
Your clear value proposition should immediately answer that question for new visitors the moment they land on your site. Visitors not only want to know ‘what’s in it for them’, but ‘why buy from you’. Your value proposition should answer both of those questions.
A value proposition can be for a website or a product or an email list. Anything where you’re asking something of other people, whether it’s to read your website, join your email list or buy your product.
Most marketers and companies spend all their time split-testing headlines, graphics, trying all different website designs; all in a desperate attempt to boost their conversions. Most of the time, these people just need to work on improving their value proposition.
Your value proposition should sum up what’s unique and special about your company/blog/product as well as exactly why people should stick around. The proposition should be displayed in your headline or anywhere else visitors will see the second they land on your page. It’s like your marketing ‘hook’.
